Yonomi App

Open the app.

Click on the gear icon in the upper left.

You’ll see the support option near the bottom of the pop up.

I DID IT!! I successfully linked my August to echo through yonomi by creating a route in that unlocks the doors in yonomi and then creating a group in the Amazon echo app and when I say “Alexa turn on unlock door” it works! Only when I’m home though! People have been trying to integrate August with the smartthings connected home for far too long, this is awesome. Now everything is connected together. Smartthings, yonomi, and Amazon echo.

I’m very glad you got it working, but unless I’m missing something, you don’t have any August to SmartThings integration even indirectly. You’ve just linked both to echo. But you can’t do anything in SmartThings that will cause August to lock or unlock. And you can’t use an August event to trigger anything in SmartThings. They just both work with echo. Which is great, but not the integration people have been looking for.

The same thing is true with Insteon, for example. Both can work with echo, but echo does not work as a “man in the middle” to let them work with each other.

I finally gave Yonomi a shot as I am trying to remove any Smartthings in my life until I see it can perform appropriately. I also am not a huge fan of IFTTT as there is latency. Last week I tried to port over my Smartthings to Harmony integration but the lag was bad, and my wife hated the fact I had to say “trigger” in front of my 3 year old son.

Yonomi’s Harmony-Echo integration is SWEET. Amazingly faster than IFTTT and ST. The app is simple to use. Once it supports more devices, I can see this service taking popularity away from IFTTT. Very impressed.

I like it a lot. My only concern is that the company might disappear at any moment. So I’m just using it for transitional stuff until there are better options in the marketplace. But as a rules engine for devices I already have, especially for integration with harmony and echo, I agree it’s really slick. Maybe harmony will buy it eventually? :sunglasses:

So far, I am running into one short coming. Lack of virtual switches! I am trying to tell Alexa to “Turn On Fan” and “Turn Off Fan” and I am having trouble. It’s an activity in Harmony, so Turn on is Start and Turn off is End. I realize I can rename the routines in Yonomi or create Echo groups but then I have to say Turn On Fan and Turn On Fan Off???

Very true! Just glad it all ties together in a way, can’t wait for the official integration

Yeah, no momentary switches sucks. :sunglasses:

You just have to get creative with names until you find one you’re comfortable saying.

For now, it’s Turn on Fan and Turn on Power Off Fan. I might use IFTTT for this one :sunny:

I’ve taken ST completely out of the Harmony equation. Yonomi works great as a middle man between echo and Harmony. Love it.

Agreed! I did the same thing and just deleted like 10 virtual switches and smartapps. Cleans up my configuration, works faster and removes dependency of ST. This way if I ever decide to go to ST 2.0 or my hub crashes, it’s less work as well. Win-Win-Win.

How do I go about creating a routine based on my Harmony activities? I have it linked to Echo and to Harmony. However, when I attempt to create a routine, it appears I must pick a “When” statement. Since I’m just looking for voice control over the harmony, I really don’t care about when as I want it to work at all times.

How do do this?

just leave “when” blank. (skip the event)

Well, that’s easy! I didn’t think that was going to work. I’ll give it a shot, thanks!

So what capabilities do you get? Just on and off or can I change channels? I’ve been wanting to pick up a Harmony hub.

Any activity can be turned on and off, so the flexibility is up to you. I am doing things like turning on my tv to a particular channel and turning on a fan.

Same as the IFTTT/Harmony or SmartThings/Harmony integrations: anything you can put into a Harmony “activity.”

For example, I have one activity which is “watch ESPN tv” and another activity which is “watch HBO” and another activity which is “watch Roku” and I can change between all of those by voice with “Alexa, turn on watch ESPN TV” etc.

But if you want to scan channels that’s more awkward because you’d have to give a command for each change. It can be a lot of work.

You will find many discussions in the forums about using harmony with smart things, so those should give you a lot of information. It’s exactly the same idea.

Every time, I try “Alexa, turn on ESPN” she plays ESPN radio from tune in. What’s the trick?

Discussed under Echo quirks.

ESPN is a reserved word that means “ESPN Radio.”

But “ESPN TV” works for most people.

Yeah I tried ESPN TV and she never understands me :(. I use ESPY…
