Hi,
I see many reports of Xiaomi motion sensor working, I have v2 hub with latest firmware but after a couple of hours it stopped working. No more motion events. I copied the device handler from the first post in the thread. Did I miss anything?
Use my latest DH.
Take your time pairing. Give it time to respond. 6 sec.
Donât pair via catch all.
Turn off all other zigbee routing devices.
Make sure your Wi-Fi and zigbee are not at the same frequency.
There must be 20 different tips on pairing these things, so it wonât hurt to throw in one more. Iâve observed this during pairing on multiple occasions but have never seen it mentioned here:
In the ST âsearching for new devicesâ screen, after furious button pushes, no new device is recognized. It gives all assistance of failure. But if I back out of the screen, the new device appears notwithstanding the aforementioned searching screen.
A good point, for the new comers to ST this issue is not just related to these sensors, it can happen with any sensor. It is more of a issue with the app.
As Charles quite rightly points out though, it does happen so it is worth checking the list once you âgive upâ pressing that button
Iâve bought a couple of Xiaomi motion and door sensors. Out of the box, they seemed to be ideal. They paired really easily and appeared to work well - thanks to the people involved in writing the device handlers!
After a few days, a couple dropped off. Re pairing was a little more difficult, however they started working again. It seemed that theyâd fall off the network if another ZigBee network was present when pairing. I switched off all my hue devices and re paired, and left the sensors by the smartthings hub for 24 hours. Also, I switched off device health.
The issue I now have is range. They donât seem to use the network created by my hue and smartthings plugs. The range seems to be determined by proximity to the smartthings hub.
Power off your ST hub for 30 minutes then power it back up, this will cause Zigbee devices to panic and search for a new route which will rebuild the mesh. Give the system some time to rebuild
Itâs a good idea to do this whenever adding Zigbee devices.
Which DH are you using? I tried both Brainâs and a4Refill DH and canât find a setting to enter the timeout? In the settings of the motion sensor I see the section for timeout but no text entry field.
I have two Xiaomi aqara sensor that work fine. I have one Xiaomi sensors the round one that eats through batteries in two weeks. I not sure if anyone has had this issue
No idea if this is relevant - but I came across a some documentation (a translation of the Chinese manual) which I donât have at hand - sorry!!! But it seems that certain button presses put it into âtest modeâ - during which time it has instant response - Iâve always seen this when first pairing. The manual stated that after two hours it would go back to regular response (1 minute). This has always been my experience. Curious - does it keep at instant response for you now, after you did this initial test?
Out of the three Original Xiaomi Smart Human Body Sensor devices I had recently activated, Iâm not thrilled with the performance.
Iâm not sure whether itâs related to the Device Handler or the device itself but Iâve noticed that the status in the Things view in my app doesnât always change from âno motionâ to âmotionâ when I am testing it out. However, it seems like the device is actually registering motion if I go into the deviceâs detail view and look at the last motion date/time.
Iâve placed two of the three outdoors (connected to webCoRE to send SMS to track movement in a restricted area) and it seems like one was going off literally any time the wind blows, at times happening once per minute. I have no idea if itâs seeing shadows (which wouldnât make sense) or if thereâs ants or something crawling in front of or on it, but it was driving me inside. The other one seems to go off appropriately. However, overall, I do wonder how often they are registering true motion as when Iâve passed by both then back again 30-45 seconds later to test, an SMS hadnât always sent to me for each pass by. Both devices are set to 3 seconds via the Device Handler.
In any case, while Iâm glad I got them for $9.99, I wouldnât rely too heavily on trusting these sensors.
I think the reason they wouldnât send you the SMS on both passes, if they were 30-45 seconds apart, is because they take 60 seconds to reset. Even if you configure it to show inactive in a shorter period of time, it wonât report a new instance of motion until 60 seconds after inactivity begins. At least thatâs my understanding. If you drive by with a 65 second gap, youâll get your SMS on both passes.
Yep. Youâre absolutely right. When I was testing it out, I read the description on the Thingâs setting page within the ST app and realized it needed 60 seconds between passes for it to register.
Hello I wonder if you could help if this is possible ?Have you any plans to intergrate xiaomi gateway with smartthings to possibly use the light and siren as this would open up a lot of aplications for everyone using your device handlers many thanks
