Xiaomi Zigbee Door/Window Sensor, Motion Sensor, & Smart Button Device Type [beta]

Absolutely, I have set all of mine to 20 seconds and they all respond correctly so after 20 seconds they send another motion alert if there is one. I do NOT have to wait for a minute for the sensor to reset.

I did post this in this or the other thread a while back but think it fell on deaf ears lol

CONFIRMED!

Thanks. My Aqara motion sensor is reliably picking up motion after 10 seconds. Might be time to edit the DTH to remove the caveat!

Thanks. You actually did crack it and it was hard to figure out this without your help. I kind of stopped on long press + short press, but it generated some event in the logs, but did not get me a device added.

The Xiaomi motion sensors are definitely not “set it and forget it” types of devices like the Iris motion sensors. I have had several issues with Xiaomi devices working great for months and then randomly falling off the network (motion and door/window sensors).

@PabloGux would you please share more info about the curtain, like a product link or keyword to google for something that is compatible

Hi,
I see many reports of Xiaomi motion sensor working, I have v2 hub with latest firmware but after a couple of hours it stopped working. No more motion events. I copied the device handler from the first post in the thread. Did I miss anything?

Thanks for any help.

Use my latest DH.
Take your time pairing. Give it time to respond. 6 sec.
Don’t pair via catch all.
Turn off all other zigbee routing devices.
Make sure your Wi-Fi and zigbee are not at the same frequency.

Wow…great hints. Thanks a lot @ArstenA

I know what my wifi channel is, how do I know what is the zigbee one?

What is the best method to pair, if I go to manual add, is there a way to select the DH?

Sorry, where can I find your DH?

Thank you…

Your zigbee channel can be found in the web ide under your hub properties. Then Google the zigbee channels vs frequencies.

There must be 20 different tips on pairing these things, so it won’t hurt to throw in one more. I’ve observed this during pairing on multiple occasions but have never seen it mentioned here:

In the ST “searching for new devices” screen, after furious button pushes, no new device is recognized. It gives all assistance of failure. But if I back out of the screen, the new device appears notwithstanding the aforementioned searching screen.

A good point, for the new comers to ST this issue is not just related to these sensors, it can happen with any sensor. It is more of a issue with the app.

As Charles quite rightly points out though, it does happen so it is worth checking the list once you ‘give up’ pressing that button

I’ve bought a couple of Xiaomi motion and door sensors. Out of the box, they seemed to be ideal. They paired really easily and appeared to work well - thanks to the people involved in writing the device handlers!

After a few days, a couple dropped off. Re pairing was a little more difficult, however they started working again. It seemed that they’d fall off the network if another ZigBee network was present when pairing. I switched off all my hue devices and re paired, and left the sensors by the smartthings hub for 24 hours. Also, I switched off device health.

The issue I now have is range. They don’t seem to use the network created by my hue and smartthings plugs. The range seems to be determined by proximity to the smartthings hub.

Is there any solution?

Power off your ST hub for 30 minutes then power it back up, this will cause Zigbee devices to panic and search for a new route which will rebuild the mesh. Give the system some time to rebuild

It’s a good idea to do this whenever adding Zigbee devices.

Hi Mark,

Which DH are you using? I tried both Brain’s and a4Refill DH and can’t find a setting to enter the timeout? In the settings of the motion sensor I see the section for timeout but no text entry field.

Hi Mark.
Which DH are you using.
No matter what I have the timer setting at, mine have a blind time of 1 minute.

Ta, I’ll try that.

Daft question, do I need to remove the AA batteries or just remove mains power? Also, should I power down the Hue Hub also?

Remove all power, batteries too. Hue hub shouldn’t matter.

I just switched to your DH. Thanks for putting it out and maintaining it.

I have two Xiaomi aqara sensor that work fine. I have one Xiaomi sensors the round one that eats through batteries in two weeks. I not sure if anyone has had this issue
