Hi @Macadoodle, You can try this post, I have the airplay runnin several days without problem, I think the hub v2 is streaming video capable, maybe we can make some to music.
Hi @vernondraper, Thanks for share your experience
HEOS 7 Speaker System supports DLNA and works with SmartTings @Manana546
Hi, I have release a Radio Tunes integration with SmartThings, Its great way to play music when you get home.
You must to update your dlna player device type and add the smartapp
https://github.com/SmartThingsUle/DLNA-PLAYER/blob/master/Media_Renderer_Events.groovy
Iāve just tested this remotely and can confirm that the following device works -
BRAVIA KDL-42W829B (Sony TV)
Iād just like to point out that External TTS does not seem to work on the Samsung Shape M5. However the cached Messages on the Sonos notify with sound works ok. Just getting something to actually match what I want it to say is proving well it isnt.
@ninjabread I recently purchased the Dlink Audio Repeater. While I can confirm airplay works and DLNA is turned on and iām able to get @uleās smartapp to recognize it, I havenāt been able to get it to play anything from ST. Is there any special setup I should know about this?
Iāll get this D-Link tomorrow also. Over the weekend, I tried the Raspberry Pi B+ and it worked. It took me a while to know how to make the sound notification. There is no step-by-step instruction. You need to install the Sonos smartapps under Music & Sounds in Marketplace (like Sonos Notify with Sound) to send sound notification from ST. Make sure the speaker device is found using the app developed by ule. Iāll see if I can make the D-Link work tomorrow.
Oddly, the smartapp can find the device no problem. But if I try finding it in the Browse UPnP app, I canāt find it. Comments by @ule lead me to believe this is a deal breaker. So something is going on.
Iām pulling for you!
Hi @ultrazero, You must to use any event to sound smartapp, I suggest you to use Sonos notify with sound, i think that its necessary to start a step by step tutorial
A step by step tutorial would be awesome @ule
Sonos notify with sound did the trick. Seems to be working now!
I had been using the Big Talker app with no success. Sonos Weather Forecast has not worked for me either.
Thanks for your work on this.
Hi @ultrazero, Sonos Weather Forecast needs a zip code, the app have some errors, if the report of your zip code do not have all the information, the smart app crash, try to use a New York zip to test if its working, and then change to your zip code
Iāve managed to get the app to fire off the msg. However it doesnāt seem to render on my device for some reason - the logs show sent, but nothing received by the speaker.
I got the D-Link Wi-Fi Audio Extender working last night. I used the Sonos Notify with Sound smartapp to do notification when a door sensor trigger. I can either use the built-in message (āA door openedā) or custom message by typing the sentence I want it to use. However, this morning, I tried to play the message again by pressing the Play button next to smartapp icon in the Smartapps tab. Nothing played. I donāt know if the D-Link went to sleep mode or not. I have to use the BubbleUPnP Android app to play some music to the Dlink. Then after that, I can use the ST smartapp to play message again. @ule, is there any parameter in your device/smartapp to keep the Renderrer awake?
Hi @binhton, All mediarenderers I have tried, any of them go to sleep, all are ready to play, the sleep mode is for power other functions, but the lan is listening the commands, some devices like televisions, if they are turned off, they close the network, I“m going to test my renderers to verify if they going to sleep.
The mediarenderers have an ip and port, and is storage in ST Hub, if the device changed the ip (if they are disconected or renwe ip, this is more common in android or software MR) the MR connect search the device every 5 minutes , and update the ip and port.
Verify if your device have some setting for time to sleep or inactivity.
Hi @binhton, The mediaRenderer Connect have a parameter, the default is 5 minutes , This is the time each media player refresh the info or is searched , if your device going to sleep before the 5 minutes, you could decrease the time to 1 minute and verify if your device going to sleep or do net respond after certain time.
Its posible your MediaRenderer could crash if many request are sent to it, or if the device going to sleep other function and try to wake up other functions before to respond the command, you can try to increase the time between actions in options of media player
But I think is a good idea to ask to @NinjaBread if he have the same problem.
Maybe he could help
@ule, is your Media_Renderer_Event based on Sonos Sound Notification smartapp? Iāll try yours tonight. I saw another smartapps Big Talker developed by someone. Do you know if it works with your device type?
Hi @binhton, Mediarenderer event is based in sonos notify with sound, it have add a Text to Speach function alternative, 80 RadioTunes Stations, and I“m going to add more event devices that sonos notify with sound does not have, Big talker must to use music player device, then must to work, try it and share your experience ,
I had to return the Dlink Audio Extender. It was kind of work. However, if it was in standby for sometime, then it did not play the notification. I needed to wake it up by restarting it or using Android app BubbleUPnP.
I tried gmediarenderer in Raspberry Pi. It works much more reliable. However, it takes too much time for installation of OS and gmediarenderer.
I just tried VolumIO 1.55 on Raspberry Pi. Very easy to install. Just write the image and boot up. It also works well with MediaRenderer.
The dlink is actually a really nice looking device and I appreciate the easy setup and admin tools. However for the same reason as you @binhton Iām returning mine as well. I also found there to be serious lag when using as just a regular AirPlay speaker.
