My Honeywell Lyric T6 Pro Wi-Fi isn’t listed on smarthings website compatible devices. But when I go into smartthings app on phone, it says i can connect to device. But none of the routines I set up work is it because its not a z-wave thermostat?
I think you have answered your own question.
So far as I know, SmartThings only supports Wi-Fi devices directly if they are Matter-over-Wi-Fi.
My three Honeywell VisionPro 8000 Wi-Fi thermostats can be controlled by SmartThings only by a cloud-to-cloud connection with the Honeywell TCC cloud.
It’s not a great integration so I generally manipulate them with the Honeywell Resideo app. In particular the current temperature is only synced from Honeywell to SmartThings every 12 hours.
I use a SharpTools automation to refresh every 30 minutes but keep meaning to rewrite this using the Rules API.
You may want to provide screenshots of the Routines and provide more details on what is not working.
Your problem is that Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostats only updates their data in SmartThings a couple times a day. I have a Honeywell T5 Wi-Fi thermostat that has the same problem.
The solution is to refresh the thermostat in SmartThings on a more frequent basis. I do a refresh once a minute.
You CAN NOT do a refreshes using native routines.
You can do using the API rules (my method) or using SharpTools (@HalD‘s method) to refresh you thermostat on a frequency that suits your needs.
That routine should trigger when the temperature measured by the thermostat changes from above 68° to 68° or below.
Have a look at the History tab of your thermostat. What you will most likely find is that the temperature reading is not being updated frequently. As I mentioned above mine only update once every 12 hours.
I also have a T5 thermostat and I don’t bother, simply relying on the Resideo app for the rare occasions that I need to change something. I’m curious–what do you see as advantageous with including it within ST?
Actually very little value having mine in SmartThings.
I’ve got a three zone heat pump system so three thermostats. I have manual ST routines to switch all three to heat or cool and to turn fans on, off, and auto. That’s purely to save me from having to click thru the settings for all three thermostats individually.
For temperature control I rely on the on-device settings. I did recently add a couple of routines that notify me when the temperature goes past a limit.
No ST routines automatically change any thermostat settings. There’s way too much infrastructure involved in ST communicating with the thermostats for me to be comfortable relying on it.
I use the Honeywell integration to pick up if my Honeywell thermostat controlling my HVAC system is in the Heating or AC mode.
I have a booster fan in the ductwork for my basement office that is controlled by a separate thermostat. I only want the booster to run during the day, when the HVAC system is on the heating mode, and my office is too cold. I don’t need the boost when the HVAC system is running in the AC mode. And it is noisy, so I don’t want to run it at night when the office is not on use.
It is also connected to Home Assistant through ST and it is one of the temperatures displayed on dashboard showing temperatures around my house.
Hal and Paul, thanks. Interesting use cases. My situation is pretty boring by comparison.![]()
It doesnt trigger the routine though. I’ve tried everything. Its probably because its not a zwave thermostat. I dont know its annoying.
I dont think smartthings routines work with honeywell wifi thermostats?
They do just fine with Honeywell WiFi thermostats assuming you’ve set up the linked service. You keep stating it doesn’t work but not giving details.
- Show us the Device page for your thermostat.
- Show us the History page.
- Show us the routine which is not working as you expect and describe what you want to do.
So smartthings doesn’t work with your thermostat?
I think he just felt there was nothing useful to do by integrating SmartThings and his thermostat.
For myself, the Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostats work just fine with SmartThings.
But I have no interest in using SmartThings to automate normal operation of the thermostats. Replacing the simple on-device programming of temperature control with the whole SmartThings to Honeywell multiple cloud infrastructure seems like a sure fire way to fail.
Yeah none of my routines activate using honeywell lyric t6 pro wifi thermostat
Post a screenshot of the History page of the thermostat
Says routine activated but never actually activated on thermosat.
Sorry. I’m out of ideas. Maybe try unlinking and relinking the Resideo or TCC service.
For what it’s worth my 7yo Vision Pro 8000 thermostats work with the Resideo app but only connect to the older Total Connect Comfort cloud service.
