What does "cstHandler: true/false" signify in a DTH definition?

I realize that this pertains to DTH’s, which are going away, but I’ve googled and searched on here and haven’t found any answers, so I’m half asking just so that the answer is stored here for posterity.

In a variety of DTH’s I’ve seen, the definition stanza includes cstHandler:true. What does this mean? I’d like to know if it’s safe to remove it from some DTH code I’m tinkering with.

CST = Compatible with SmartThings. It’s the step below WWST = Works With SmartThings. It can be removed safely.

Fair enough. But just for curiosity, what did cst and wwst used to do in a DTH?

no idea

Have you seen this in any official handler?
