Welcome Home Lab missing devices

So I don’t have to recreate the wheel… I thought I would give the Welcome Home Lab a whirl to open my Meross garage door opener and control some other devices when I come home since creating a routine from scratch for this has yielded inconsistent results (sometimes it works, sometimes it’s delayed, sometimes it just doesn’t work at all).

Before anyone shoots down the security risk involved with this… Yes, I am fully aware. I have an electronic deadbolt and cameras in the garage. While this is is not an absolute deterrent, it’s good enough for me.

Is there a way for me to easily add my Meross opener to the list of supported devices to control? I’m not really interested in creating a virtual switch to “back-door” the list. I’d just like to see all of my installed devices that are controllable show up in the radio button list of devices to choose from in this lab (yes, I’d like to see the deadbolt there too.)

I may be wrong but isn’t Welcome Home in SmartThings Labs used “only” for turning Devices in ST On and Off. Therefore, locks and garage doors are not supported in it.

If you are having problems with Location in your Routines, I would imagine you will have similar issues with Welcome Home in SmartThings Labs.

You may want to find a way to improve getting Location to make your Routines run on time … you can use Alexa or Apple Home or other. Depends on what you use in your Home.

You are probably correct regarding the aim for this lab. I am hoping I can add my garage door and lock to it so it is more robust.

As far as my phone (Galaxy S24 Ultra) currently not reliably functioning as a location device, that’s a different problem I’m working with Samsung on. A few months ago I accidentally blew away my entire SmartThings including all my devices (75+) and routines (30+). I have been automating my home with SmartThings and Alexa since 2017. This loss forced me to start from square one again.

Before I lost everything, my phone worked flawlessly in routines to automatically open my garage door, unlock my kitchen door, and depending on the hour, turn on various lights. Right now Samsung support is scratching their collective heads because they say everything is configured correctly and my location based routine should be working as it did before.
