So what you are saying is you are increasing the price because you feel they are worth more now that they are natively working in smartthings and people have given them so many positive reviews. That is a shame as the $10 price was a reasonable price. A sale at $15 when the original price was $17 is a slap in the face. And raising the price up to $27.99 is laughable as that approaches the very common sale price of $32 for the official Samsung sensor which has more features such as a gyro and accelerometer. Glad I got a lot of these at $10-$11 so Iām set. Will wait for the next reasonable priced device to replace this next time I need some.
Iām gonna defend this a bit. You see, every other sensor around is in the price range you are bemoaningā¦ sensors with identical functionality. And these visonic sensors have a low profile, which gives them a WAF other sensors lack. If external conditions (such as now natively working with ST) have turned in favor of this device, its market desirability rises.
Itās the free market at work, a classic case in fact. Even a semi-socialist like myself grasps and appreciates this. if you didnāt get them while the getting was good, itās not the fault of the seller.
I have more than 10 of these window sensors. Just started noticing that the one which are exposed to cold environment (garage door, patio door, etc.) are using up battery really fast and die within a week. Have ordered extra batteries.
Any recommendations? Is it a trend?
Agreeā¦the small form factor of these helped me w/WAF as well, and personally I also prefer the Visonic smaller size than sensors I have on other doors/windows in the house. Except in one spot at the farthest point from my hub these have been reliable, no issues. Now that ST supports them natively they are a breeze to set up, and for those who care you get local processing. Itās a free market, and up to each business owner work out how to determine their pricing and product promotions, and up to each consumer to vote w/their $.
@xamindar, I donāt see any slapping going on around here.
Has anyone found a good source of batteries for these? The manufacturer says to use Varta (very common in consumer electronics I believe), but they are not as easy to find as the āregularā brands.
After the hassle finding just the right brand for the SmartThings multipurpose sensors Iām a bit gun-shy about ordering a bunch.
Thanks.
Are you talking about the batteries for the Visonic MCT-340 sensors? I buy them at a dollar store, 2 for a $1. They last just as long as the ones you buy for $3-$4 a piece.
Ikea has an 8 pack for $3. I buy mine from Amazon though.
OK, so no special brand-specific requirements like the SmartThings sensors have? Good to know, thanks.
These are back down to $10 today.
These are back down to $10 today.
Perfect, picked up a few more. Thanks.
Where? Canāt remember where I got them from but the link at top is Amazon for $15ā¦
These things are so useful! At $10, itās too good to pass up. Hmmm, now what am I going to do with these I just ordered and the 4 that I still have NIB?
What are the other things?
Man, how temptingā¦ just to get some backup devices or something.
You could use the window/door as temperature sensors, as little thermostats all around the home. Paired with some kind of compatible servos and in-duct limiters, this would work much better than the Keen vents or the Ecobee arrangement to control temps in various rooms.
Think Iāll order some, along with a few PIR sensors. Which are $12.50 each.
Now that Visonic MCT-340 E sensors are natively supported, is there an easy way to update the DH to the native ST handler? I do not see the ānativeā Visonic MCT-340 E" device type in the IDE dropdown list. I also hope the solution is not to remove/re-pair all of my sensorsā¦
I just bought 10. Iāll buy almost any ST sensor for $10! Iāll figure out a use for all of them eventually.
Broke down and bought 3 more. Too good to pass up.
