Hello,
I have a Samsung QE75Q60CAUXXH (2023) TV connected to SmartThings and use Home Assistant system.
Until at least August 2026, the tvChannelName value reliably changed according to the application currently running on the TV. YouTube, Netflix and other applications returned their individual application IDs.
Recently this stopped working.
Regardless of which application is running, tvChannelName now remains:
com.samsung.tv.csfs
which corresponds to the Samsung TV home/menu environment rather than the application actually running.
I first noticed the issue in Home Assistant, but I have ruled out the Home Assistant integration.
I queried the SmartThings REST API directly using a temporary Personal Access Token:
GET /v1/devices/{deviceId}/components/main/capabilities/tvChannel/status
The direct SmartThings API response contains the same tvChannelName value, so Home Assistant is simply displaying the state provided by the SmartThings API.
Other SmartThings data from the TV continues to update normally. Power state and other capabilities work, and the tvChannel capability is still present.
I also performed a full TV reboot/reset, but application-specific IDs still do not appear.
Tested applications:
YouTube
Netflix
Prime Video
etecera …
All of them currently result in the same tvChannelName value:
com.samsung.tv.csfs
TV information
Model: Samsung QE75Q60CAUXXH
Model year: 2023
Platform: Tizen
Firmware: T-NKLCDEUC-0090-2220.4
There was no known firmware update on the TV immediately before the problem appeared.
Expected behavior
tvChannelName should change to the identifier of the currently running application, as it did previously.
Actual behavior
tvChannelName remains com.samsung.tv.csfs regardless of the application currently running.
Has anything recently changed in the way 2023 Samsung/Tizen TVs report the currently running application to SmartThings?
Thanks.
