The Frame Art Mode Missing 'Weather/Time Collage Layout' for My Photos (The 'Plank' layout)

I am writing to request the return of a highly-valued Art Mode layout for The Frame TV within the SmartThings app.

The missing feature is the specific collage layout that combined user-uploaded photos with the clock and weather information (temperature).

In the Dutch version of the app, this layout was sometimes referred to as the ‘Plank’ (Shelf) layout.

This template was ideal because it allowed us to:

  1. Display two personal images (a collage).

  2. Include essential information like the Time and Local Weather/Temperature.

Since a recent app update, this specific and functional layout option under My Album seems to have been removed or is no longer working correctly.

Furthermore, the current options for displaying single custom photos are very limited, often forcing the photo to be displayed with a default, poorly designed, and non-customizable mat (frame/kader) around it. The lost ‘Plank’ layout was a far more elegant solution for personalization.

This removal significantly limits the personalization options for The Frame TV. Could you please investigate and restore this ‘Collage Layout with Weather/Time’ option in a future update?

I recommend reporting this to SmartThings Customer Support, as they have the ability to escalate this issue to the appropriate engineering team if needed.

To contact them, follow these steps:

  1. Open the SmartThings app
  2. Go to the menu tab (bottom-right corner)
  3. Tap Contact us
  4. Select Error reports
  5. Choose the topic related to your issue and follow the prompts to submit your request
