"Testing Device" wouldn't show when selecting "Product Distribution Region" to "China"

Hello Everyone,

Lately my group have been developing a “Direct Connected Device” on SmartThings.

At first we stick to the default “Distribution” setting (aka Global), and tested on SmartTings APP, it all works just fine, but when reviewing the settings, we found that “global” doesn’t mean global, and we have to change it to “China Only” to be able to use the device in China, so we changed the settings to China, and the “Testing Device” disappeared after the change. We tried QR Code, using APP for China Region(1.7.46.127), among other things, nothing works, and we can’t connect the device to the APP anymore.

Is there a region limit on my account? If that is the case, please tell me how can I pass the limit on the account.

Otherwise, if general method to developing product just doesn’t work in China, why would we have the option to change the region to China?

App Version: 1.7.46.27 1.7.46.127

Thanks!

Hi, @Liferme
Can you provide more details, please?
As I understand, you were able to install the device in your account without issues, right?
Then, what made you change this value?
What do you mean by “but when reviewing the settings, we found that “global” doesn’t mean global”? Please provide the steps you followed to access the “settings” you mentioned, just to confirm we’re on the same page.
Based on the description, you’re working with more than one account. Which region did they have configured originally? I mean, for their Samsung account, can you access this link?
https://v3.account.samsung.com/dashboard/profile

AFAIK, the available integrations appear based on the region of the Samsung account, and the SmartThings location should have the same region configured to avoid any issues.

Please open support access to the account where these products are registered:

  1. Confirm the email account registered in the forum is the same one you use for SmartThings. If not, please share it with me over DM
  2. Enable support access to your account:
  1. Go to the SmartThings Web (my.smartthings.com)
  2. Log in to your Samsung Account
  3. Select Menu (⋮) and choose Settings
  4. Toggle on Account Data Access
  5. Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select “Until turned off”, once the team finishes, we’ll let you know so you can disable it again.
See more information about this access here: https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/36170233944852-Enabling-Account-Data-Access-for-Support

@nayelyz Sorry for being fuzzy about the issue.

Firstly, our goal now is to be able to connect and test the device using SmartThings APP for China Region(Version 1.7.46.127), we now have created 2 products, one is set for “Global”, another one is set for “China”, the “China” one is for testing on APP for China Region.

Product 1 ID(Global): 237d9607-2dd9-428c-bda5-68a787dc8f16

Product 2 ID(China): 462873f0-4c29-4a39-9aef-b51928bf61bb

And to answer you questions:

  1. Yes, we were able to install the device in my account based on Product 1 and SmartThings APP(Vsersion 1.7.46.27),but we weren’t able to install the device based on Product 2 and SmartThings APP(Version 1.7.46.127), because there is no testing device in the APP when setting “Distribution Region” to “China”.
  2. When reviewing the “Product Details” settings, we found out that “Global” means “Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific”, but “China” is not included based on the settings, and the info says: “China can only be selected on its own”. So we created another product with the “China Only” setting, the setting path is: Device Integrations->Products->Product Name->Edit Product Details(the first block)->Distribution, the screenshots will be shown at the bottom of this relpy.
  3. About the account info, the account we are currently using is set for “Hong Kong Region”, and the 2 products mentioned above are all created under this account. We have tried using account set for “China Region”, but we can’t login the Developer Center with that account, the account info will be sent through DM, and the screenshot of login issue will be shown at the bottom.

Last, can you recommend a method for developing a Direct Connected Device for SmartThings APP(Version 1.7.46.127), aiming users in China Mainland? I mean like how to create an account which can be logged in to the Developer Center, account wise, thanks a lot.

Region Setting:

Account Set for China Region Can’t login

Thanks!
