I have 2 Tapo Homes and all Tapo devices are in their correct Tapo homes
In the past I seem to have successfully added Tapo smart plugs to the correct home 2, but, I added a new Tapo camera and it goes to Home 1 and even the refresh routine states “devices from this service will be added” to home 1
What’s changed ?
How can I temporarily set home 2 as the refresh default for just this camera
Hi, @Kremmen
Please provide more details about this.
As I understand, you’re working with the Tapo integration, which is Cloud to Cloud.
On their side, you have two locations, home 1 and home 2 in a single account.
Then, you add the Tapo integration to a location in SmartThings, correct?
This kind of integration doesn’t allow you to decide which devices you want to discover in a specific location to have them divided into locations on the ST side as well.
Instead, every “discoverable” device will be added to the location where you install the integration.
So, if you want to have home 1 and home 2 devices separated in SmartThings locations as well, the suggestion is to have 2 separate accounts on the Tapo side and log in to the corresponding one on each location.
Yes, I have 2 homes and I must have been able to separate them in Smartthings as 3 existing devices show in the second home but a new camera refuses to go to the second home with a message saying ‘this will be added to home 1’
I’ve solved the problem another way with rooms instead of homes
As I said, it must have been possible in the past as I have 12 devices in home 1 and 3 devices in home 2
Not that I’m aware of. It must have been something on the partner’s side where they used a different Access Token to send the Discovery callback for the device.
This is because the service checks the Access Token used for the requests, and that’s how the instance is detected.
We’ve also seen that devices get added to the first location where the integration was installed, so it could be one of those two situations.
It is great that you found a workaround.
