SwitchBot Tabletop Fan?

SwitchBot has just released their tabletop oscillating fan model in the US. It’s been available in Japan for about a year.

The product description says it works with SmartThings. Has anyone tried it through either the official cloud to cloud SwitchBot/SmartThings integration, or maybe through the matter bridge integration?

The fan definitely works with Alexa, but it would be nice if there’s a better integration since the fan offers a lot of features.

A couple of things to note.

In Japan, tabletop fans are more popular than tower fans, but it’s essentially intended for the same use cases.

Also, in most parts of Japan, mains power is rate regulated with some parts of the day being much more expensive than others. So this fan has an interesting design feature: you charge it from the mains and then you can use it on the built-in battery for quite a long time, from 6 to 12 hours. That allows people to charge it when mains power is inexpensive, and then run it off the battery during more expensive times.

It’s also popular for people who dry their laundry on a rope line or rack on a balcony or patio, because they can take the fan to the laundry and speed up the process.

Anyway, I’m curious if anyone has tried it with SmartThings yet.

It’s getting excellent reviews at Amazon in Japan:

In the US, it’s currently available from the manufacturer site. I expect it will eventually be available on Amazon as well.

On April 8, 2024, SwitchBot announced that the fan does have on/off capability through their matter integration, but no other controls yet.

Still waiting to hear what features are available through the official cloud cloud integration with SmartThings.
