My ST security management has 3 members all with phone presence setup. If person 1 and 2 leave, but 3 stays. The alarm still arms as if everyone left. To test, I setup virtual switches for each person to show ON when they’re home and OFF when they leave. This seems to be working properly, as person 1 and 2 turned OFF when leaving and person 3 was still ON when at home, but alarm still arms. Not sure why security management doesn’t pickup on person 3 as it should. Any thoughts?
Is it specifically the presence of person 3 that is being ignored? So if 1 or 2 stay at home it is OK?
Is there a problem with arrivals too? So if persons 1, 2 and 3 are all away and you manually set the alarm to armed away mode, does the alarm stay set if person 3 arrives home first?
Have you confirmed using the History tab of Home Monitor that the alarm is not being armed at all, rather than being armed and then immediately disarmed?
Are you using the Home Security Management ‘useful feature’ of Home Monitor? I’ve never used that because I have to allow for users without SmartThings. Is that definitely configured to use all the phones of persons 1, 2 and 3, and also not to use any other devices they don’t always carry in and out of the home like tablets or spare phones?
Are you using any other apps or Routines that work with the Security Mode? That would include other virtual or real security systems configured into SmartThings as those typically mirror the Security Mode and vice versa.
Yes, it’s specifically the 3rd person that doesn’t get sensed properly when it comes to the security, both leaving and arriving. I am using the “Useful Feature” which shows all three members as managed members.
I hadn’t looked at the history until just now. Looking at the last week, it doesn’t show person 3 as activating the disarm. It doesn’t show specific users activating when they leave just that it’s arming. No funkiness showing here other than not triggering properly for person 3.
I do have some routines setup for the Ring Alarm Keypad. But that is just to sync the Away/Arm/Stay status between ST and the keypad. I didn’t recall there being any member specific settings. I went to go lookup the driver and keypad setup instructions but Bud has that behind a pay wall now. ![]()
I have tried removing and adding person 3 into the useful feature members but that didn’t help. I tried removing and re-adding person 3 into smartthings as a whole as well. With no resolve.
The last time this happened, I had to deactivate reactivate the location settings.
Afterwards I had to go through the routines and fix those with the red exclamation mark.
This sounds familiar but I’ll have to see if I can find this setting and see if it sparks anything.
OK so that means it has the securitySystem capability. Whenever the Security Mode changes commands will be sent to the device integration to tell it that it might like to disarm, ‘arm stay’, or ‘arm (away)’. Whether it does or not is its own business.
If the device sets its status to disarmed, ‘armed stay’ or ‘armed away’ the Security Mode will follow suit like it or not.
The latter is the only vaguely documented behaviour but the former has been working for a lot longer.
