[ST Edge] Philips Hue LAN [BETA] (3rd Party Driver, Not ST Native)

It does, the bridge added to SmartThings just fine but it took a number of attempts to get the lights, buttons, rooms, motion sensors, plugs and remotes to re-add to the bridge in the SmartThings app. It’s now working fine and just as it was before.

Does it expose the motion sensing lights functionality in Smarthings to create Automations off it?

Only me having trouble this morning? All my Philips hue devices are offline.Restart did not change anything.

My hub and lights are all showing offline as well. Not sure where to start fixing. Hue app works fine.

Turning all lights on/off (state change, I assume) from within the Hue app (or Hue Essentials) usually fixes the offline issue for me, although I’ve never checked whether the Hue hub itself showed as offline. Sensors and buttons just fix themselves by being used.

Nope… not working They just stopped working last night. ST suggests reinstall the hub. Forget it. How do I troubleshoot from here?

I have done this on a few occasions before, but I’ve never had the hue hub as showing offline.

Same here… Usually the hue devices are found in ST after a power cycle or similar. But this time the hub is offline. I tried searching for new devices and pushed the button on the hue hub. Then it added all hue devices with the conventional driver i guess. Dont do that Andyjd86.

Do you still have the driver showing in the advanced Web app? The channel for this driver was no longer in my list, though I still have an installed driver called Phillips Hue Beta which the device is connected to. The driver option is greyed out in my app though.

Is there a chance that the issue lies with Hue rather than Smartthings?

The driver is there. Channel list on the other hand. I have no idea what you are talking about.
Where the issue lies I have no idea.

I wonder what similarities we have, and why nobody else seems to have been affected

The driver is local. There aren’t any cloud pieces to it, so the fact that you are offline together is coincidental. I also haven’t updated this driver for a long time. It hasn’t needed it. Whatever is happening, is happening locally. The only exception would be if ST broke something in the hub firmware (it would still be local, but would be more widespread).

My first suggestion would be to restart the ST hub. That will restart the firmware and the drivers. I would NOT restart your Hue hub until trying this first.

Thanks for confirming. Is there a ‘special’ restart for the Smartthings hub? I have rebooted the hub from within the advanced Web ui and also pulled the power and ethernet out but still showing as offline.

It has been working really well and just stopped about 1pm uk time today

Just a simple power cycle. If you tried that, I would move on to restarting the Hue hub. If that doesn’t work, I’d look at your local network (mDNS changes?, new router?, VLANs?). After that, I’d be curious if Hue updated their firmware and broke the API

Had already tried a hue hub reboot but no luck. Shouldn’t have anything changed on my network, I have a stable Unifi setup and no firmware updates to that recently.

I’m on the Smartthings beta firmware channel, but I can’t see if that was updated today?

If Hue updated their firmware, wouldn’t more users be seeing an issue?

Yes, depending on if they have auto updates and are also ST users. It’s a bit of a niche. Given that the driver itself hasn’t changed, my instinct tells me ST updated something. I am no longer using ST to verify if they did though. They have a history of breaking their network stack which is why I moved away from ST. Created too many support issues. The fact that you are on their beta is also a good hint as to why it may not be a bigger group yet.

I can at least confirm that hue updated the firmware on the 5th of November, and at some point since then my hue hub has been updated, I can’t tell if that was today though.

Still working for me.

I do not use the driver for lights directly but I do for accessories and Rooms/Zones. All appear to be functioning.

Would you be able to share which firmware you are on for both the Smartthings and hue hubs please.
