This doesn’t change the issue for existing devices. I have not tried it for new devices.
Bond Bridge 2023-11-10.19.28.13.43
- Fixes issue caused by bridge no longer being able to read preferences. This will prevent a crash, although preferences are still not accessible due to the ST app hiding them for bridge devices.
CC: @Speeder watch for this update, and it should resolve the issue you are experiencing
thanks @blueyetisoftware. I re-installed the driver via CLI and it’s working now, no errors in the logs.
follow-up question, will any dimming functionality be exposed? I have the following dimming options for my fans in bond:
- dim mode (toggles between full brightness and dim)
- dim up (continuous dimming up until full brightness)
- dim down (continuous dimming down until lowest brightness)
- dimmer (continuous dimming up and down)
Dimming is possible, and on the roadmap. The timing is TBD, but I will keep the thread going with updates as they are available.
It’s odd. It works for me and others on both iOS and Android.
For Android, may need to stop the ST app and clear all data.
For iOS, just stop and open the ST app.
To support the long term tech support and development of this driver, I am considering a subscription/paid driver model. Licensing would likely be per Bond bridge or per Bond SBB device. If you are a long term follower of this thread, I’d love to get your thoughts on this:
- I would consider a one-time purchase of a license for the driver and limited support
- I would consider a subscription for the driver and long term support
- I would uninstall this driver and stop using it if it cost money
Thanks
Thank you to the small group of voters that participated. For those that said they would uninstall the driver, what would you use instead?
- I would accept losing smart home control of my fans
- I would replace my fans instead
- I would find a different driver (If so, which one?)
- I would write my own driver
Just got a Bond Bridge setup for ST control of my 4 remote controlled fans. Thanks for the slick integration!
A bit bummed to find that ST and Bond don’t stay in sync with actual operation if the RF remote is used since I have wall stations and remotes for these fans, making it potentially confusing to automate.
If I ditch the RF wall stations and RF remotes, what are y’all using in terms of physical ST controls for manual control of devices? I know I can get a Zooz scene controller to replace my wall stations, but what about battery operated remote devices? Fans have light toggle, speeds 1, 2, 3, and fan off control. I am not seeing anything that has enough buttons to make it dead simple for guests without having to explain single/double/triple presses. Let me know, thanks!
I use 2 different remotes and put the RF controlls in a drawer.
Zooz Zen34
Minoston 800 Series Z-Wave Scene Controller

There is also a Zooz version which I haven’t tried yet
Those look very promising for my needs! Thanks! Still curious what other folks might be doing.
I use double rocker switches from Runless wire and connect them through Philips Hue. As an alternative to Bond, I have 3 brand new Sonoff canopy modules. They can be flashed with different firmware so they work with ST over wifi. Their remotes will then also work without the synchronization issues.
Thanks! I have already got the bond setup and integrated with the Zooz rockers on their way. Planning to do upper rocker for light toggle and lower rocker for speeds 1-3 with respective taps and hold for fan off.
Not sure why but my connection to Bond Bridge recently dropped. Rebooted Bond Bridge, no joy. Followed up with removing device and attempting to re pair…no luck. Uninstalled/reinstalled driver, scanned for devices…no luck. Bond app still shows everything as normal and controls fans as expected. Any thoughts on where to go next?
Not a huge issue as I only control this particular outdoor fan a few times a month, but enjoyed having it.
Please don’t do this. It rarely works, and removes the possibility of diagnosing the issue.
Restarting the ST bridge may have worked at the time as it restarts the ST network stack. Without more information, it would seem that something changed about the network setup (vlans, firewall, subnet, etc)
No other changes. Do not currently use VLANS and have had no need to adjust Firewall recently. All other network devices humming away as usual. Have a few other Edge Drivers for special cases (such as TAustins EdgeBridge server and LAN Motion driver) that have remained stable. Was actually surprised to see this device as showing “offline”. I did reboot the ST hub as well (sorry forgot to mention that). I get your point about diagnosing, should have dumped the logs first.
Bond hub is on a reserved IP and as I mentioned still works through Bond Hub app. Not sure what else to try (suppose I can give the router a reboot but will wait to hear back).
Well, a bit of an update and not sure if this was previously available as I don’t remember it being an option before…but went to my bond hub and clicked on the “manage integrations” link.
Smartthings was in the integration options and showed disabled. Enabled the connection and logged in via Smartthings, and my fan/light/fan direction all appeared as devices again (throuhh cloud integration I assume as no driver is listed).
Would prefer to have them on LAN via this driver, but up and running for now.
That is the ST cloud integration and is not part of this driver. I would also try searching your rooms to see if ST imported your device for this driver into a default room. If you still can’t find it, you can DM me your logs taken from the discovery process.
Bond Bridge 2024-04-11.01.58.08.00
- Updated error code table for ST network errors for “Host Unreachable”
- Update chunked http transfers for version 9 ST firmware
@blueyetisoftware bond bridge went offline on smartthings. It is showing online on the bond app.
How do i troubleshoot this? Thanks
Have you rebooted your ST hub from the Advanced Web App?
