Back in July, some of you may have noticed that text messages from SmartThings started coming from a different number, a “short code”: 51269. This is because the volume of text messages coming out of SmartThings became high enough that certain carriers started throttling us, and carriers allow higher message volumes for short codes . However, the 51269 number was a loaner short code from Twilio, only made available for us to use until a permanent US short code could be approved for our exclusive use by all major and minor carriers. The carrier approval phase is now complete, so the new short code you can expect to see SmartThings text messages arrive from in coming days is…drumroll…844647!
