SmartTiles: Video Camera Compatibility

i only ever tried the 9803p v2. Gave up on direct connect - and got it working via blue iris.

Thanks for the quick reply Joel. I was looking into blue iris. Good to know that it works through that, Iā€™ll go that route instead. Thanks!

9303p - i have not used that camera tho. blue iris is very powerful - youā€™ll just need a windows computer. power/size depends on how many cameras and type. but you can link it up to the blue iris smartapp and have it activate a profile based on your home mode. very very very cool!

Sorry I typoā€™d the model. It was supposed to read 9803.

So you connect the cameras via blue Iris and then stream blue Iris into smarttiles? Does it show up as individual tiles or does it show a composite of X amount of cameras on one tile?

itā€™s individual tiles. they arenā€™t huge though. but just enough to see what is happening. And itā€™s jpeg so itā€™s not smooth footage. But iā€™m quite happy with it.

Iā€™d love to be able to click it and view a live stream larger.

Please let us know if you have any headway with the Xiaoyi IP cam and if you have any suggestions or English instructionsā€¦ lol. I have mine coming in the mail today and my v2 hub is coming in the mail tomorrow.

So to be clear, can internal IP addresses work for SmartTiles? Because right now Iā€™m having trouble debugging why my Foscam ā€œCamera Image Captureā€ isnā€™t showing anything after interacting with it (shows up fine in SmartThings APP) as well as the image refresh mode and mjpeg streams show nothing (though I validated the URLs locally). Iā€™m getting almost no information in the live log for this app.

Itā€™s very simple: if you enter the steam URL into a browser and you see the video, then it will work with SmartTiles. SmartTiles video tile is just a display portal, it doesnā€™t do anything to the stream.

If the browser of your device can display the video stream then so can SmartTiles. Video from SmartTiles does not go to the ST hub at all.

Oh, fantastic. Thatā€™s good to know about the Video functionality. What about the ā€œCamera Image Capture?ā€

ā€œImage Captureā€ capability allows you to take a snapshot of a video stream and save it to ST cloud. This is an actual device capability and such camera needs to be connected to ST. The tile will trigger the same action as the ST mobile client. Itā€™s been a while, so I donā€™t remember if any officially supported cameras other than Dropcam have this capability.

Okay, thatā€™s what I expected it to be doing. How would I go and view that saved image in SmartTiles?

Btw, Iā€™m using this device type: https://github.com/skp19/st_foscam_hd/blob/master/st_foscam_hd.groovy There is also a type made by Smartthings for it, but it lacks more functionality.

You canā€™t. Neither can you view it by any other means other than through SmartThings client.

I need Help how can i view camera feeds on android devices on PC they are good but on android cannot trying to mount on wall

What brand of browser on the PC?

Meanwhileā€¦

windows 10 chrome on the pc, Android lollipop chrome also

Soā€¦ Can you get your video stream working in a plain chrome browser tab on your Android?

If so, that URL should work in SmartTiles, but if a login or plug-in is required, your camera may not be compatible.

Private Message me with your camera model and much more details for further assistance, please.

Foscam C1 Experience thus far:

The camera chipset apparently doesnā€™t even support mjpeg - so thats a non-starter. VLC apparently can stream it via RTSP.

It does work with snapshot, using Foscams cgi. Might be sending it back as I really like SmartTiles.

Is there a way to set the stop-motion refresh rate faster? This would be a great work-around for the C1 (since it doesnt provide a mjpeg stream). Something like a 1 or 2 second refresh rate would be suitable for my needs.

This app is awesome! Iā€™ve been able to connect 2 separate Foscam FI9821W V2.1 cameras with this.

One thing I notice though is that in the Android app thereā€™s a warning message at the top. Iā€™m assuming this is because itā€™s accessing the video streams via http and thus getting a Mixed Content warning in the WebView.

Is there any way to get rid of that?

I did setup my cameras to be available via https, but since the cameras use self-signed certs that was unsuccessful with SmartTiles.

Just change all adresses to be https:// (or all http) i dont remember well, but all of them should match
