Anyone have luck using GWSecurity Cameras with ST ? (model GW-5037IP).

They are supposed to be ONVIF compliant…

I can’t get the picture to show up… Works in IE with their plugin

I try to connect my Y-cam Bullet HD720 with smarttiles but I can’t find the correct link to add the camera to Smarttiles.

Does anyone have experience to add an Ycam ?

I want to get a camera as well for my action tiles is there a database with tested working models so I don’t go out and buy one not compatible ?

( co-founder Terry @ActionTiles; GitHub: @cosmicpuppy; NOT a SmartThings Employee.) #570

This is a popular question, so we are working on it.

  • The problem is that we can’t buy all the cameras ourselves, so we’ll have to trust our Customer’s reported experiences.
  • We also cannot guarantee that any particular camera will remain compatible.

###ActionTiles Forum: Helpful discussions…

In the meantime, visit the Media Tile / Video category of our Feedback Forum: There are a couple of Topics open for this and you might find some existing suggestions helpful. (Especially using the Type filter of “Questions and Discussions”).

Does anyone have hardwired outdoor IP cameras that output a format that works with Actiontiles and also has some sort of compatibility to send smartthings motion alerts? Also maybe this is just a failing of my understanding, but why does mp4 not work with actiontiles? It’s the format most supported by HTML5 which is browser based and doesn’t require plugins…?

( co-founder Terry @ActionTiles; GitHub: @cosmicpuppy; NOT a SmartThings Employee.) #572

Because the cameras don’t serve MP4 directly over an “http” embeddable link. Or we haven’t found one.

My laview work ok.

Anyone using Xiaomi or similar budget cameras?

Customers (and camera hack forums) are indicating that these vendors are not offering open APIs or streams from these. You’re stuck with their Apps and Clouds…

Looking for the solution for the same from a long time, didn’t get the good solution till now.
I tried the above-shared solutions and they really worked for me.
EDIT: removed link to fishy site

That’s great news, John!

Can you please share with us the exact details of your solution (camera model, settings, URL format, browser, tablet, etc.)?

It may not be the best solution for everyone, but we have lots of Customers who just need 1 configuration that will work!

I have below link that gets me picture of my camera feed in action tiles. I have to open that url in another tab and login then it shows up in action tiles dashboard but have to re-login every minute. Any way to make it so that I login and it stays logged in?

By any chance have you set a Refresh Interval in the Media Tile definition?

If not, then it’s likely just the Camera’s web server requesting a response to “refresh authorization token” which is likely something ActionTiles is incapable of supplying.

(Ivan Maslyanchuk) #581

I have refresh interval set to 5 seconds.

shouldn’t below link auto login each time? Doesn’t seem to work though. If I use below link in chrome it auto logins every time I refresh the page.

Chrome now blocks “basic http authentication in embedded URLs” (i.e., URLs of the form “username:pwd”).

Thank you for your help. The link you provided doesn’t load for me.

Any way to run some kind of script that saves a picture every “x” seconds and than pull in this new picture every “x” seconds to actiontiles? Or is there a better work around?

I’ve been using URLs like[CameraID] to retrieve snapshots from my (Nest) Drop Cams. Recently, some (but not all) of my cameras have started returning “Forbidden” rather than a snapshot. I see no difference in firmware version or settings between those that work and those that don’t. Any suggestions?
