I have two apps on my iPhone, one turn on my computer through WOL and another to turn it off.
I would imagine someone was able to figure out how to use SmartThings to do these things?

Ultimately, I want to run my Goodnight function and shut down my PC.
And use WOL to turn the pc on either on a timer or switch.

A few minutes later I check that the power light on the cpu is off, and I “tell Alexa” to turn off my desk…then, no power to the cpu, no power to the monitor, printers, desk lamp, overhead light, and pencil sharpener… so, how could I set that up to remove my having to physically shutdown the computer first…maybe an UPS? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks

To quote @Tyler :

`hubAction = new physicalgraph.device.HubAction("wake on lan ${getDataValue("mac")}", physicalgraph.device.Protocol.LAN, null, [secureCode:"000000000000"])`
“wake on lan command”
Not sure if this is available yet but if it’s not, it’s definitely coming since it’ll be needed for the 2015/2016 Samsung Smart TVs!

Too bad you don’t have an android phone. Tasker with AutoInput and Sharptools could do exactly what you desire.

Create a momentary virtual switch to turn off your PC then use the webserver function of Eventghost:

> [@\[OBSOLETE\] Send Events to EventGhost](https://community.smartthings.com/t/send-events-to-eventghost/22473):

> [EventGhost](http://www.eventghost.org/) is an open source tool for Windows automation that has been in use by HA and HTPC folks for well over a decade. EventGhost allows the user to take actions in response to events triggered by various programs and devices in your environment. EventGhost can be used as a general rule engine, scheduler, or device handler that is run locally and as such isn’t dependent upon the ST cloud. Programming actions in response to events is done through a simple drag-and-drop interface that is reliable and easy to use. This SmartApp allows you to send events from SmartThings to an EventGhost server running the [Webserver](http://www.eventghost.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Webserver) plugin. The result is that events from your SmartThings switches, dimmers, motion sensors, etc can now trigger actions in EventGhost. Version 1.0.0 - 2015-09-13 - Initia…
