SmartThings notification delay on Samsung phone while checking NBI appointment updates

Hi everyone,

Not sure if somebody else noticed this issue recently.

I was checking my NBI Clearance appointment updates on my Samsung phone and wanted SmartThings routine to give me quick notification reminder before my scheduled verification time.

Problem is notification automation sometimes coming late or not triggering at all when phone stays idle for long time.

I made simple routine:

if calendar reminder starts
send notification + sound alert
But few times it only works after unlocking phone manually :sweat_smile:

Battery optimization already disabled for SmartThings app but still random delays happening.

Also tried linking reminder with Samsung Calendar because I usually track government appointments there.

Anybody here using SmartThings for important reminders or scheduled alerts?

Wondering if this is app delay issue or Samsung background restriction problem.

Are you confusing SmartThings with Modes & Routines?

Don’t know if it’s part of your problem or not but you should definitely review the application settings for SmartThings.

  • Turn off Manage App If Unused
  • Turn on Allow Background Usage under App Battery Settings

Yeah maybe little mix up from my side :sweat_smile:

I was using both actually because SmartThings routine was connected with Samsung reminder notifications on my phone. Need check again if issue coming more from Modes & Routines side.

Thanks, gonna check these settings now.

I already disabled battery optimization before but maybe missed “Manage App If Unused” option. Samsung background limits sometimes very aggressive on my phone.
