Hi @y0q
I reviewed your Hubs, and bouth appears as ‘CLAIMED.’ This means it is already installed on the SmartThings platform, and you won’t be able to claim it with another account. Here are some instructions to reset the Hub:
Please follow these steps:
If you are using batteries for the V2, you should remove them
Factory Reset (Using Ethernet Cable)
Unplug the hub from power.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the hub directly to your router.
Press and hold the reset button on the hub.
While still holding the reset button, plug the hub back into power.
Continue holding the button for approximately 15–30 seconds.
Release the button when the LED changes color (usually flashing yellow or red).
Allow the hub to complete the reset and enter setup / pairing mode.
Open the SmartThings app and set up the hub as a new device.
Thanks for the response. I’ve done these steps before and I tried it again. The hub seems to reset and then the LED cycles between red and green and then solid green which seems to be mean it’s ready to be set up.
In the smart things app I click on add new device and then “scan nearby” because there’s no QR code.
Nothing shows up.
I have tried to add it manually by clicking on “can’t find the device” and then searching for it in the device list but then it requires a welcome code.
I do see it on my network though. Any suggestions?
You aren’t really installing the hub in the usual sense, the hub should have already done that itself if it is connected correctly. You are just telling the backend, using the Welcome Code, that you would like to link a particular hub to your account (you are ‘claiming’ it). The backend will then link the hub, which it should already know about, to your account. If this has already been done and the hub hasn’t since been removed then you get told that the hub is already linked to another account (it is already ‘claimed’). Factory resetting the hub should result an any existing claim being removed.
To add the hub in the app I would suggest using Add device and then choosing to Add a Partner device followed by selecting SmartThings from the list and them Smart Home Hub. You will then be prompted for the type of hub and you’re on your way.
It sounds like you have already done that and don’t have the Welcome Code. @Itati is probably waiting for the hub to show as unclaimed before sending it to you. A successful factory reset of a viable V2 hub should have cleared the claim.
My V2 hubs tend to go straight to flashing yellow when reset but with the original design with the three holes for the LED it isn’t obvious they are flashing until you see them not flashing. You should let go of the reset button after a change from flashing yellow to solid yellow.
Thanks @orangebucket You’re right, the "Add a Partner device" flow is the exact process I followed initially. That is what helped me find this long running thread lol. My inherited hub does go straight to flashing yellow when reset too. It does “seem” like it reset correctly, I will wait for @Itati to confirm if it shows up as unclaimed.
Hi, @Slopol
We looked for its welcome code and the Serial Number you provided doesn’t exist.
Please verify the Serial Number is correct and that this is a V2 Hub.
when you zoom in - it becomes a 9. a little bit of space shows - looks like the last 5 digits were slightly higher at the bottom causing a slight distortion or ink bleed.
