Hsu has serious and appropriate credentials, both in engineering and in building business partnerships. This is very encouraging. I also like the “investment in certification,” which is often key in getting market rivals to work together. (See the Connected Lighting Alliance for an example.)
The article below is from 7 years ago, so that’s a lot of experience in exactly the kind of thing ST will need to compete in a post HomeKit world.

Hsu will essentially build the business and infrastructure to create SmartThings’ App store model.
Yeah, the app store is badly needed. Can’t wait to see real IDE and Github integration promised long time ago.
