SmartThings blinking blue light

Ever since about 24 hours ago my V2 hub has a blinking blue light. I’ve tried all steps to get it to recover with no luck. I’ve ordered an Aerotek V3 hub.. I know I will have to install all of my devices again. My question is do I have to do anything on the smart things cloud end, or that’s not necessary. Since my V2 hub cannot make internet connection. I cannot do a transfer that way I have to start from scratch. Thanks for your advice

That’s not necessarily true. If your V2 was on up-to-date firmware before dying then SmartThings will have taken a backup of all settings and will be able to restore that to the new V3 hub.

Search the forums for “backup” in recent posts

Excellent chip thank you I will investigate

I mean tip

I was told the cloud backup only works with the V3 hub not the V2

Don’t delete your V2 from SmartThings otherwise you can’t replace it.

Reboot your router and make sure your hub has ethernet or internet. In your router settings give your hub a dhcp reservation.

If that doesn’t work contact SmartThings support.

ST App, menu, contact us, error reports, offline diagnostics, select hub, fill form, send.

Well as the story goes I did get in touch with a smart things representative. He had me go to the delete process again the results were the same. But it did come back online still with blinking blue light. The representative told me don’t worry about that as long as you’re online it should be good. If you need help reinstalling devices call us back he said. I can reinstall things myself now what he had me do was first going to smart things and then delete it and then reinstall it. Had to do it that way but. Now I have another problem apparently the SmartThings hub is not seeing any radios because when I go to search for devices it doesn’t even see the hub it just sees a virtual hub. I bought the aerotec V3 it will be delivered tomorrow. I’ll have to go through some pain and suffering to get things set up again. Thanks for help

It’s all moot now since support had you delete your hub from the account but this is not correct. There are multiple posts in the forums about for migrating to new hubs including from V2.

I was told v2 too does not have cloud backup. It seems like the radios in my V2 hub and not working. The only good side of this a lot of my smart plugs and smart bulbs are made by tapo, or tp-link as it’s also called. So I do not to reinstall those devices. Couple of thermostats door sensors motion sensors, temperature humidity sensors. The ones I use are from the same company third reality which work great shouldn’t be too hard to reinstall. It sucks but it is what it is.
