Smart switch with no load

Hi All,
I have a 2 gang box with one switch that controls nothing. I was thinking of replacing that switch with a smart switch, and having it control some lamps in the room (they are already connected to smartthings via appliance modules). Mostly just to have a physical switch that can control the lamps. Will the in wall smart switch work if I only connect neutral, line, and ground (no load)? Or does it read the power used to determine the light status? Thanks.

should be fine, but i would be 100% sure that switch doesn’t control and outlet or something.

I am using a couple switches like that with no problem.

I also have 2 switches set up without a load. No issues.

Thanks all. Worked like a charm
