Smart solution for setting dumb light with 3 modes: a) lights off b) activated by sensor and c) permanently on? (UK)

Hello,

I’m very new to SmartThings and I’m trying to find out if it is possible and what kit would I need to be able to control my outdoor lights. They are currently operated by dumb switches which change their modes to be permanently on, activated by sensor and switched off.

I would like to be able to change their mode from other rooms (changing it from smartphone would be a bonus), so I thought maybe I could use a smart button, or other device, but I’m not sure if I had to change my current dumb switches to smart ones or change my PIR to smart one, or both?

I think it is worth mentioning I live in UK, as not all smart switches are available / compatible (I think).

Which model smartthings hub do you have and which version of the app are you using, the smartthings classic app or “smart things (Samsung connect)” app?

Features vary somewhat so we need to know what your setup is before we can discuss options.

Hi, I have the same question so hope it’s okay to hijack

I’m using the classic app and smart things v2.17.1

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Are you in the UK? If not, you should start your own thread as the answers would be different for the US.

Also, when it comes to which version of the app you have, we mean the following:

I’m in the UK.
App- yes I know, I stated Classic. Do you need more info?

Hope you can help?

Thanks

OK, do you have the same kind of outdoor lights as the original poster in this thread? Those were motion-activated lights which had their own mode, sensor on, sensor off, and light off.

If so, how do you currently change that status?
