Should I upgrade my v1 hub to v3?

Migrating to a new hub

Not sure if things have changed significantly since this thread, but I just started migrating and although not automatic, it does not appear to be too difficult. I added my new v3 hub to my location. I logged in to the IDE at https://graph.api.smartthings.com/ I edited each device and changed the associated hub. So far, so good. No gotchas yet.

What about V2 to V3?

As far as V1 to V2, I’m my opinion that is a no brainer.

I was on V1 and as soon as V2 came out upgraded and never looked back.

As far as going to V3, don’t know less, microprocessor power, but extended range in zigbee and zwave radio?

I followed jkp’s advice. Other than the hassle of going to each device and changing the hub, it was pretty easy.

I just did the v1 to v2 switch… it went ok. I bought a 45600 GE Z-Wave Remote to remove my wave devices from the v1 hub. was much easier.

from what I understand the only difference between v2 to v3 is that you lose battery backup.

When I migrated from my wink 1 to 2 they managed to have an auto migration path so I didn’t have to exclude all of my devices and then re set them up on the new Hub. I can understand why a company like Samsung and all its resources can’t figure this out.
