Sayonara Smartthings Wi-Fi (Plume) Hub

Looks like it’s the beginning of the end for the ST Wi-Fi (Plume) hub (and possibly the Connect Home Wi-Fi as well). As of the latest version of the ST app, you no longer have access to any of the Wi-Fi or Smartthings hub functions. All you get is your current Wi-Fi network name and the password:

I am still able to login to the Plume Home app and manage the Wi-Fi portion, but not sure how long that will last. Hub utilities like Z-Wave Repair and Exclusion are available via the AWA, but I’m away from home so I can’t test if they still work. Also can’t test if the hub will go into inclusion mode if you try to add a new device, but I’m betting no.

@nayelyz @Itati Can we get any official word on what is going on with this group of hubs? Silently dropping any support through the app seems a bit rude to say the least. I understand that this is 8 year old product, but a little notice of its pending demise would be appreciated. And even if they don’t want to support the Wi-Fi portion any more, it would be nice to have access to the ST Hub functions.

At this point I guess I’m gonna have to consider:

  • Replace my 42 Z-Wave devices with Matter and/or Zigbee devices and update all my Routines
  • Take my chances on buying a v3 hub but having to manually migrate all my devices to it and updating all my Routines
  • Get a Hubitat hub and use Mira but having to manually migrate all my devices and update all my Routines

Sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one.

Agreed, not being able to access the settings to a working hub is not ideal!

I bit the bullet on my home and parents home and the automatic migration was flawless, don’t need to do anything manually. So its worth abandoning but its a shame really. Wish the mesh system still functioned and everything or at least they would release the necessary code/information for someone else to make it work but that’s a dream.

All options related to hub and Wi-Fi option have been removed from the device card for the Wi-Fi hub. There is no way to do a Hub Replace anymore.

You did a Hub Replace going from the Wi-Fi hub (Plume) to a v3 successfully?

You don’t need the options in the hub. Hub replace is on the home tab in the app, then the 3 dots at the top for manage hubs. then replace hub. And yea I went from a plume hub to a v3 no issues. Matter of fact my parents plume hub (the main) had actually died so I was able to transfer it there too no issues. Mine was still working and transferred just fine.

Thanks for the pointer. I also found that I can access all the Wi-Fi and hub menus going from Home->3-dot menu->Manage Hubs->Wi-Fi Hub rather than from the device card. Weird.
