[DEPRECATED] Samsung TV support in SmartThings?

Im at work so dont know my model number. Ill look when i get home. Where is the location settings?

Anyone had any more success? Still trying to find location settings and for in to be found on smart things app.

No i have given up:(

Any idea if the MU (2017) series Samsung SmarTV is supposed to support SmartThings? Earlier posts suggest that 2016 was the only year that supported smartthings on Samsung smartTVs , but not 2017. So that explains why MU series TV is not being discovered at all, unless I am doing something wrong. Anyone else has any other factual information or suggestions?

My model is UN55MU6300.

I have done it now. I just used a different device. I used my tablet and it found it first time.

Hi,

Same issues here.

Following the steps from “Samsung TV as a Thing”, no TV devices discovered.

I’m running some tests creating a Device Handler and an SmartApp from templates with two different TV models with the following results:

Model UE46F6640. Works fine. TV detected, asking for permission to mobile device access and responding to SmartApp buttons.

Model UE65KS8000. Not working. TV detected but not asking for permission neither responding to SmartApp buttons.

Any clue, please?

Thx!

Had anyone got a Samsung UE40F6510 working and linked into ST?

I was stuck at the “Discovery Started!” page in SmartThings app. After about a minute the spinning wheel would freeze, following by ‘the app is not responding, do you want to wait, report, exit’. I had to crash out each time. I emailed ST support. They advised me to:

  1. Reinstall the app on my phone (which didn’t work), then after another round of emails …
  2. Remove the power cable and batteries from the ST hub for 20 minutes (I left it an hour … this worked)

After performing step 2, the ST app detected my TV (KU6400) within 5 seconds. The rest was simple.

Cheers
Chris.

Unfortunately that hasn’t worked for me

me neither :triumph:

I have a ue48h8000 and its visible on the discovery but when i try to add it it gives an error message

Error saving page , any ideas ???

I have an old Samsung which is discovered but not able to save.
I am assuming it is because it is Orsay rather than Tizen.

I am assuming there is no solution to connect after reading through the thread,

Need to add a device handler called “Samsung Smart TV” from templates first, try that.

I have 3 tvs that are having similar problems as the above. Being found, but none of the controls work.
UN46ES6500
UN40EH5300
UN65H7150

Samsung TV (connect) Logs state “executing Null” when i push a button in the app to control any of the tvs.
The individual tv logs show:
4381d9fb-be17-43d5-87bb-0d1b5cf4b1cd 3:24:44 PM: debug Turning TV OFF
4381d9fb-be17-43d5-87bb-0d1b5cf4b1cd 3:24:22 PM: debug Turning TV OFF
4381d9fb-be17-43d5-87bb-0d1b5cf4b1cd 3:21:09 PM: debug Turning TV OFF

i have error like this:

physicalgraph.app.exception.UnknownDeviceTypeException: Device type ‘Samsung Smart TV’ in namespace ‘jscgs350’ not found.

do you know what could it be?

My TV was all connected and working fine, but yesterday stopped responding to Smartthings. So I removed it to add it again, and now it doesn’t appear in discovery. Anyone had this and solved it? TV is a ue49ks7000

Check the firmware on the TV, my TV has been working fine also and after taking part in another thread I disabled the autoupdate of firmware. Samsung released a TV firmware update that breaks the integration between Samsung TV and Smartthings. Firmware version 1201 works but any release after that is broken.

From other forum posts
Samsung TV support say that Smarthings integration was dropped and not coming back.
Smartthings support is saying that TV and Smarthings Dev are working on a fix (though they have been working on a fix for some time)

Now back to why my TV integration is broken, it looks like Samsung have forced a firmware update through, on checking the autoupdate on my TV it is still disabled.

So waiting an update from support to see what the latest is on a fix.
If you are still on 1201 then check out your TV network connection, if you are on anything later then you are out of luck I am afraid.

Looks like my firmware has indeed been updated. That sucks.

That’s unbelievable! I have 2 of the affected TVs, one went to 1208 and I caught the other one before it updated. It was 1201 until a couple of days ago, happily working with ST and Alexa. Updates were, and still are, turned OFF.

How, has it updated itself to 1208??

This is below the belt.
