I have a couple of GE ZWave switches that have gone rogue! They show as “offline” from the SmartThings app and web tool but… My routines that control them continue to function normally!! For example, I have a spotlight on my driveway that is controlled by a routine that triggers on my garage door opening and turns the light on. It works fine! But I can’t control the light directly! WTF? Any clues? How can they be offline and still functioning with the routines?
I have found this with some Zigbee stuff. These devices go offline all the time - every week without fail, something I am troubleshooting with support.
However recently ive seen they Show offline but work in routines.
This is new. Usually when offline they are dead as expected. Seems that they drop offline on the app but stay live in the ST cloud / Hub
Same problem here. I have a zigbee door sensor that constantly shows offline but it actually works in routines.
The ‘offline’ status for a hub devices reflects the hub having an absence of evidence that the device is online. If the evidence gathering is imperfect, or the device is misbehaving and not providing any evidence, then the hub will at some point flag the device as offline. The mobile apps take that as an absolute and stop trying to manage the device. Other stuff doesn’t take any notice and just tries to use the device regardless.
