Ring Video Doorbell

The ST hub is essentially the same, the Ring doorbell is 100% exactly the same, well?
The platform itself (“the giant puzzle”) has no reason to be different between the US and UK, because again - the only physical difference is the z-wave module frequency…

I don’t understand why Samsung created this separation from the first place.

it has to do with oauth… and the server you hit with your hub…

I really doubt it has anything to do with Samsung. Apart from the name on the branding, Smartthing is still being run like a start-up it has always been.

Looks like with the updates today Ring has landed on my uk hub… awesome

Well…! Do tell, do tell! How’s the integration? What can you integrate? How well is it working!

Where do you find it under Marketplace? I was expecting a ‘Doorbell’ section to appear. Had a quick peek in the other sections and couldn’t find it.

Thanks

I did the actual integration a while ago when it became available in the US.

If you go to your IDE and then add a device type, the Ring doorbell should be there.

If in doubt, look on the forum under devices and integrations for the steps to be followed.

I have not fully tested it yet as it was laye last night that i noticed. I quickly setup the porch light to go on when motion was detected.

I also saw that a button action from Ring became available. I will test fully tonight and let you know.

Yes, I have the same question. I looked in a lot of the likely categories including ‘new things’, ‘sensors’ and even ‘sirens’ to no avail. Where have you seen this UIGuy?

It is in the ‘Cameras’ section.

Any chance on chime or chime pro integration? Being able to trigger a chime when a door opens would be great

Chime control in smartthings would be a sanity saver for kid naptime. We either forget to mute our chime or forget to turn the volume back up :scream:

I would also like to get the ability to take a Picture or Video on demand like the skybell integration can do. Ideally if the house is broken into all cameras should be recording continuously.

Chime would be a nice to have but video/picture is a must have.

don’t forget support for other Ring devices as well, been eyeing out the stick up cam

place the chime behind a smart plug so you can turn it off when it is nap time

This is exactly what I would like also.

Completely agree this would be useful for nap time but unless the naps are around set schedules, you would still need to remember to flip a switch/mode in ST. If the schedules are set, you could simply use the native scheduler in the Ring app although this does not seem to work consistent for me.

Just an FYI in case people weren’t aware, you can schedule when to disable motion alerts in the app:

Go into the motion settings on the doorbell (not the Chime) and you can add rules in there, May not be perfect but might help some!

Agree. But the switch to mode might have additional changes you want to make for nap time so only one switch is necessary instead of switch mode and then mute chime. Also I can use my amazon echo to change modes so I wouldn’t even need to go into the app just tell Alexa to turn on “nap time”. I also agree the smart switch would work but that is just something else that needs to be bought.

What is the practical use of this integration? Apart from turning a light ,assuming your porch light is smartthings enabled. Can you advise some useful scenarios.

That’s exactly what I use it for. All my outdoor lights are on a colour cycle. When Ring detects motion, I set them all to 100% and white and I turn on the pendant light inside by the front door.

You could also get it to flash a light somewhere inside for extra notification, if you have a DVR/streaming device or something and Harmony Hub, you could have it pause TV/movie/music so you can go and answer the door.

Can you view the live feed in a dashboard like actiontiles? (Does the device allow you to view an MJPEG video stream).I’m curious to know before I buy one. Thanks!
