Ring Video Doorbell

$189 AWD deal for the pro. is it worth it?

No idea Iā€™m afraid but itā€™s a good question. Being a Brit I feel bad for how much you guys miss out on in the UK. When I moved to the US I realised just how much more tech development happens here first :frowning:

AWD? Not a bad deal though, usually $250 isnā€™t it?

@dytkd Best price in the last 12 months is $199 according to camelcamelcamel.

Edit: Youā€™re talking about used. Looks like they run between $150 - $200 normally. Unfortunately camelcamelcamel doesnā€™t report condition or who the seller was.

Amazon Warehouse Deals - however, they are sold a used which i believe it voids the warranty.

I have items from AWD before, and never had a problem, but all of those items were under 504 which i can assume the riskā€¦

Any news on a UK release for Ring integration? I can see itā€™s been imminent since November, can we expect it soon?

+1 on the UK integration.

When I go to https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/device/create

I can see ā€˜Ring Doorbellā€™ on the Type dropdown.

Assuming weā€™re close to the UK integration being rolled out too? Any ETAs?

Donā€™t get overly excited, the device type has been there since November I think.

We have previously been told that integration would be live in the UK before the end of 2016, but this far no updates.
:frowning:

Iā€™d love to see this tooā€¦

I think Ring integration will be available sometime soon. Ring just launched a new product (coming soon) and thereā€™s a video on the page, in the video is the smartthings badge when it lists compatibility.

Ring integration is already technically here so that might just be what that badge is referring too but it would be nice if it meant a more tighter integration!

Tyler just mentioned in the dev call that they had been discussing UK integration today and should be in the next week hopefully.

Hey Benji, any news about UK integration yet?

So apparently theyā€™re on the last step of getting the integration done BUT itā€™s just one device in a big batch of devices they want/need to release together.

No idea what those other devices are and no idea on when thatā€™ll be but my personal take on it is that it sounds like itā€™s practically done or it is done and itā€™s just waiting for that next release.

I have the Ring Pro and have it integrated with SmartThings.

Yeah Michael, itā€™s only us UK people who are waiting for the ring integration to be made available.

WTF is taking so long? It should be exactly the same, there is absolutely no difference between the US and the UK versions in regards to the Ring integration (itā€™s using WiFi, not Z-WAZE / ZigBee) so why canā€™t you just release it already???

Iā€™m not entirely sure what the reason for the hold up is with UK based devices but I know of them take longer to integrate in the UK than they do in the US. So there must be some technical reason that you or I are not aware of thatā€™s cause the delay.

Theyā€™ve just emailed about a hub firmware update, hopefully this will be a piece of the puzzle needed to get the UK side closer to integration.

As far as I know (and I highly doubt that Iā€™m mistaken) the only difference between the US and the UK versions is the Z-WAVE module frequency.

Right, but the ST hub is just one tiny piece of the giant puzzle. Thereā€™s a lot more too it and itā€™s the pieces you donā€™t understand that probably contain the hold up.
