Ring Doorbell Motion/Switch Response Delay

Hardware Version: Hub v3 US
Firmware Version: 32.00010
Switch: Zooz ZEN21 On/Off Switch v4.0
Motion Device: Ring Video Doorbell 2 (Battery)

Automation Goal: Between Sunset and Sunrise, if motion is detected for 1 second, switch will turn on front porch light for 3 minutes

Created the automation using the Smart Lighting Smart App:
Which device do want to control: Front Porch Switch (Zooz)
What do you want to do: Turn On
Select Trigger: Motion
Which motion sensors: Front Door (Ring Doorbell)
Turn on when: Motion start
Turn off after motion stops: slider indicates yes
After this number of minutes: 3
Only during a certain time: Sunset to Sunrise
Only on certain days of the week: All selected
Only when mode is: NA
Only if switch: NA
Only if illuminence is: NA

After creating, I tested last night and got the following results:

  1. Walked up to the door, light turns on. I walked away from motion sensor detection area
  2. Confirmed light turned off after 3 minutes
  3. After waiting an additional 2 minutes, walked up to the door, light turns on. I walked away from motion sensor detection
  4. Confirmed light turned off after 3 minutes
  5. After waiting an additional 1 minutes, walked up to the door, light did not turn on this time. I continued motion in front of sensor for over a minute, light still did not turn on (yes I looked silly)
  6. Returned after 10 minutes. Walked up to the door, light turns on

I checked the “events” for the motion device. I saw lines for 1,3, and 6 with “Front Door detected motion” and “Front Door motion is inactive”. However there was no line entry for 5

Is this a Ring Video Doorbell issue? A SmartThngs issue? A cloud/latency issue?
