I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request your assistance regarding a second‑hand SmartThings Hub v2 (Model: STH‑ETH‑200) that I recently acquired from ebay. Unfortunately, I am unable to activate or claim the device within the SmartThings app. The system appears to indicate that the hub may still be registered under a previous Samsung account.
I would be grateful if you could kindly assist with the following:
Unclaim or release the hub from any previous Samsung account.
Provide the Welcome Code, if it is available in your system records.
For your reference, the details of the device are provided below:
Model: SmartThings Hub v2 — STH‑ETH‑200
Serial Number (S/N):4000138733
Country /: United Kingdom
Current Owner /: Andey Tsui
As this device was obtained second‑hand, I do not have access to the previous owner’s Samsung account, nor do I possess the original Welcome Code card.
I would sincerely appreciate your assistance in unbinding the hub or retrieving the Welcome Code so that I may complete the setup process.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
You don’t need Support to remove it from another account. You only need to reset the hub and that procedure removes it.
to reset hub:
Remove power cord and any batteries
Ethernet cable needs to be connected between your hub and network
Press the reset slot on the back side of hub and while doing that, insert the power cord.
Continue pressing until you see a solid yellow led on the front of the hub and release pressing the reset slot
Again, there does not appear to be any ST support on the forum so posting here at this time does not do anything for you. Sorry! Use all the contact methods available through app and on the Samsung support page. Try them all - that’s the only advice I can provide.
maybe Support will return at some day or maybe not. Only time will tell. Right now, they have not been available for two weeks.
or sad to say, return the v2 and get your money back and get a V3 or Aeotec smart home hub 1 or 2. All which don’t require a code. They are better hubs except if you need z-wave, avoid the Aeotec smart home hub 2.
yep, i can only provide the US location… go to Samsung.com and it should redirect you to your correct region. Scroll to bottom of page, select Support Home under the Support section, look for Apps and Services and tap on it, choose SmartThings, scroll down to see contact methods available in your region. if still not able to find it, I am not sure what your next step is except for the app.
