[OBSOLETE] Zipato/Phileo Multisound Siren (PH-PSE02.US)

I won’t be converting the Zipato/Phileo Multisound Siren DTH into an Edge Driver so it will stop working once the Groovy platform is retired, but it might not need a custom driver.

This is a device handler for the Zipato Z-Wave Indoor Multi-Sound Siren (PH-PSE02.US). It’s been tested on the US version, but it should work with the EU version.

Features:

  • It plays 7 different sounds (Ambulance, Beep, Chirp, Door Chime, Emergency, Fire, Police)

  • Allows you to select a different sound for alarm.strobe, alarm.siren, alarm.both, tone.beep, switch.on.

  • Optional alarm duration settings with 10 options ranging from 30 seconds to 1 hour.

  • Has disable feature which is a hardware setting that prevents the device from making noise until it’s enabled.

  • Supports the music player capability so it can be used with SHM and/or Speaker Notify with Sound to play the different sounds by selecting the device as an Audio Device, choosing Custom Message and entering the sound name (beep, door, ambulance, emergency, fire, police) or the setting name (on, siren, strobe, both).

Thank you so much for creating this. For some reason all of my sound trigger the alarm. Any idea why this might be happening? I really just want to have a the door sound available for entry notification and the alarm for intrusion.

Thanks!

Which sounds have you selected from the settings?

Are you trying to play them by pushing the tiles or using a SmartApp?

If you enable “Debug Logging” and then go into the IDE and open Live Logging, you may see some messages that provide more information.

Hi, I am very new to smartthings. Can you provide a step by step guide to installing this app? I am from the UK. I have managed to copy the code to the device handler fine, but i cannot see the app?

J

This is a Device Handler, not a SmartApp.

You should install it in the “My Device Handlers” section of the IDE before you connect the device. Then when you connect the device it should automatically assign it this device handler.

If you’ve already connected the device, you can still install it, but you will need to go to open the device from the “My Devices” screen in the IDE, and change the “Type” field to “Zipato Multisound Siren”. The device handlers you install through the IDE will be located at the bottom of the drop down list. You will then need to open the device in the Mobile App and save the settings screen to ensure that all of the configuration values are sent to the device.

The following url has detailed information on using custom device handlers:

http://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=Using_Custom_Code#Using_a_Custom_Device_Handler

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

I managed to get it installed, but i cannot get any other tone to work other than default? I have the PH-PSE02-EU do you think i need to change anything else?

J

Open live logging in the IDE and the go in the device settings through the mobile app, enable debug logging if not already enabled and tap done. The try one of the sounds, and then post the live logging data.

I have created the device handler in my account, using your code and changed the device type in the IDE. The tile console appears in the mobile app. I have set different tones for each action, but only one sound is heard. Log shows, as an example…

Have I done something wrong? Also, there are two entries in the mobile app config screen, at the bottom, both set to 1, but no information as to what they are.
This is my first attempt at this kind of stuff and I would greatly value your help  TIA James

More info: I have created a Smartapp to trigger the siren, but only the default sound occurs, irrespective of Siren device settings.

Are you on version 1 or 2 of the hub? Do you have the US version of the device?

It sounds like you connected the device to SmartThings before creating the device handler so can you remove the device and then add it again. I’m not sure if that will make a difference, but it’s worth a shot.

Open live logging after removing the device, but before pairing it.

Once it’s paired, (assuming it paired as the correct device) open the device settings in the mobile app, make some changes, and then tap done.

If it didn’t pair as the correct device, switch it in the IDE, clear live logging, open the device settings in the mobile app, make some changes, and then tap done.

Wait until it stops writing messages to live logging and then post the live logging output.

Thanks Kevin for your reply  Removing and re-adding siren device made no difference. I am in the UK. Hub v2, EU siren version. Here are the logs reported from just before I re-added the device… Maybe a few ‘extras’ from other Smartthings devices working away in the house!

At 16:34, it confirms that the settings have been properly set and secure commands are enabled so the strobe, both, siren, and beep commands should have made different sounds.

It’s unlikely, but possible that the configuration settings are slightly different for the US and EU versions.

Can you post some pictures of the manual so I can verify the configuration?

Can you also open the device in the IDE and post the raw description?

The manual (which is identical to the paper copy included in the device packaging) is here https://www.zipato.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/ph-pse02-Zipato-Siren-User-Manual-v1.2.pdf

Tamper detected prob because I have the cover/mouting plate off while I re-added the device (need to press buttons inside).

Hi @krlaframboise, I have exactly same issue as @JamesEncliffe , I get only Alarm too

Regards,
Kiran

I’ll look into it tonight. You’re also on the EU version, right?

Yes Kevin, Mine is also EU version.

Cheers.

@krlaframboise, Just curious to know if this device handler gives the flexibility to choose different sounds for different events in Smartthings ? for ex, for door /chirp for door open/close events and Alarm for Home away mode ?

Thanks,
Kiran

Yes, it will allow you to do those things. .

I’m comparing the manuals and reviewing my code now to see if I can figure out why it’s not working with the EU model.

I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out the problem and I’ll release a new version tonight or tomorrow morning.
