[OBSOLETE] Xiaomi Sensors and Button (beta)

Never had a single customs issue.

My previous order was for 6 Motion Sensors and 6 Door Sensors, placed on the 3rd, they also arrived today however they did not ship until the 9th from memory due to stock levels apparently.

Yeah I could not believe it when they turned up this morning. Surely despite what was stated they must have shipped from within the UK right! Problem is you cannot tell as I think they all get shipped to somewhere in the UK and then are forwarded on so the label tells you nothing unfortunately, well at least from what I have seen. This is probably why there are no Customs issues etc. as they look like they are sent from within the UK. The two parcels I received this morning both have a shipping label on them from “Thousand Shores” in Bartley Green and that is all. Perhaps others can chip in with how their labels looked etc.

I guess I have been very lucky, even the single Aqara one I ordered as a tester only took 10 days to get to me.

I would not use the catchall method unless you are pairing the temp sensors (or buttons possibly) where I believe this is the only way to get them on-board but not tried myself.

Just do it all from the app and persevere with pressing the button as I describe a few post above. I have always found this extremely reliable and it has never failed me once, well not once you get the hang of it.

Gotcha. TBH I don’t even have my hub yet, or the sensors, they’re on their way! So I’ve never even added anything to st yet. So I assume you mean just use the st app on my iPhone and there will be somewhere there where I add the device once I’ve installed the dh…

Thanks Mark. I’ve also read elsewhere about there being very little chance of charges, so will try a bulk order.

Looking on the site now they have 2 warehouse options for the door sensor, China £6.75 and UK-2 £9.72, whenever I’ve ordered in the past they didn’t have the UK option. I’d say you were indeed very lucky if you didn’t pay the uk prices, good to know they have them in the UK but I’m never that lucky :unamused:

Never had the option for a UK warehouse. If I was to bet on it, even if you order from China they will still probably ship from the UK but for the sake of waiting a short period of time I would still pay the cheaper price, well that is if you can wait lol.

Is the £6.75 for the normal Xiaomi Sensor, the Aqara version is only £5.37 at the moment.

Yes, correct, from the app on your iPhone. There is a little ‘+’ in the top right hand corner or an “Add a Thing” link at the bottom of the Things page. Once added you then need to go into the IDE and change the DH to the correct one. I have found that sometimes it actually picks it up automatically and others not, especially with the Aqara sensors anyway but this is very easy to do.

Ah you will have lots of fun times ahead. It can actually get a little addictive especially with all the community developed apps and all the automation things you can achieve, well at least I have found it so

Feel free to drop me a PM if you need any help with anything. I am no expert but have been through many scenarios etc. so may be able to help should you require it.

I made the mistake of throwing all the boxes to my first few batches (keep them in case you ever want to sell them on…) so have double what is here plus another 8 door sensors on their way to me, see you can get a little carried away :joy:

You’re the man, much appreciated. I know I will have questions on how to integrate actions from the door sensor with other devices. That is quite impressive the stack you’ve got there, you should create a thread to share the closets full of boxes!

Yeah, the normal isn’t on a ‘flash sale’ at the moment. It’s like playing the stock market catching them at the right time, they go up and down that much. I haven’t got any aqara’s but I may well get them at that price :+1:

Agree with you it can get addictive  my soldering skills have improved greatly since I last tried and failed, so my next ‘project’ is hooking some of these up to some pressure mats

Followed your instruction there. Right next to the hub and the item appeared in the Add a Thing list - which was the first I could add without using catchall - but again, after an hour it fell off the network.

Lost track but have you any other zigbee devices plugged into the mains, light bulbs, outlets etc. Even though you are close to the hub the sensor may still be routing through a different device.

Yeah I have a Zigbee outlet and I have an original ST Motion Sensor [which ironically fell off the network last night, first time since I bought the thing]

Feel like this is never going to work - might just bin them! :frowning:

Grab a 6 pack and keep trying. At the least, your sensors may not stay on the network, but you will drunk by the end

Unplug the zigbee outlet from the mains and leave it unplugged for a few hours, see if that helps. My bet is that the sensor is routing through that and not handshaking correctly.

…and grab a 6 pack!

outlet powered off - it’s reporting motion still… so we’ll see if it’s still alive in a few hours - thanks chaps!

At least that means it is routing through the hub directly. Fingers crossed it sticks. Not heard of anyone having so many issues in keeping one connected though so there is defo something wrong somewhere.

I recently got a temp sensor and am having the issue where it disappears from the app but not ide. If I assign it the generic Temperature Sensor DH, it shows up and shows temp & humidity. Every time I switch back to your DH it disappears from the app.

This is what I get when I click the button on the sensor and it disappears:

I’m assuming it does have to do with battery status because I then continue to get regular updates on everything else

All my Xiaomi sensors do not work anymore. Some of them went offline and unavailable, some of them online but do not report anything from 4:30PM EST today. 4 motion sensors offline, 5 online. 2 open close sensors. 5 temperature sensors. All of them had a problem the same time… I do not have a clue what is going on…

Anyone tried the device handlers with aqara sensors and button? Does it work?

This may be why I can’t set up the door/window sensors on my brand new hub (which itself literally set up in the last couple of hours)? Pretty sure I’ve done everything correctly (3 times in fact) - the sensors pair fine, shows as being online but no status of any kind is transmitted.

What is your Hub f/w version?

I know ST have a habbit of tweaking things in the cloud sometimes on a per use basis. Did you perhaps report a different issue they may be trying to fix for you? Have you had another hard wired zigbee device on your system whose f/w may have just been updated remotely or perhaps it has dropped off the system and the sensors were routing through it?
