Hello, I am seeing what I think is different behavior and am hoping I can get some help/advice. I am using this device handler to control Osram Lightify BR30 bulbs. When changing the dim level from within the Smartthings app or the Dimming Switch (holding button up/down) the changes are smooth as expected, but when turning On/Off the changes are sporadic (non-coordinated). Is this expected behavior? If not, any advice on how to correct?
Can this be used to control non dimming lights and a switched outlet?
It can be used as buttons with SmartLighting to trigger any action.
Iām using them as a secondary switch mounted low for my kids to reach. They trigger light switches (dimmers) in their room and the bathroom.
Iām learning about all of this for the first time.
Hereās an article on adding new Device Handlers:
THANK YOU for creating this Device Handler. It took me 3.5 hours to figure everything out, but now my dimmer switch is working as expected.
I wrote this detailed installation guide
to help future enthusiasts get up to speed on the installation and configuration of custom device handlers.
FYI - you can easily edit the DH to control 6+ devices if required. The code is straight forward. Just follow what is there for 1-5, and continue with new lines for whatever you need.
will the new smartthings firmware update have an impact on this?

I am using the default āZigbee Buttonā DTH and can confirm that it is working local now.
Thank You for creating this guide, I am new to Smart Things - bought the hub yesterday - and this was extremely helpful!
Working my way through implementing this device handler. Adam Moutler writes that the intent is to run things locally, but when I put this as a device handler it shows that it runs in the cloud. Am I missing something?
Hmmm. What is the default device handler that ST assigns? When I pair this switch with my hub, it is assigned ZigBee Buttonā¦, and that doesnāt do anything.
It used to run locally, but APIs have changed and I no longer use these devices. If someone would like to fix the device handler, Iād be happy to put something at the top of this post about your project.
Use the device type specified in the code. This is a custom device type. The stock device type is the one you are using.
Can I use this Sylvania switch as an initiator to do something else like open my garage door? I have a mimolite attached to my garage door and it would be cool to be able to press the up button and say open the garage door and maybe even turn on some lights!
Absolutely. Iām not sure if about doing it through an app, but you can certainly do it with webCore.
You can initiate just about any action from a button press through the Smart Lighting app.
Also for me all my Lightify switches now for some reason read ā0ā battery when they are not, even with a new battery.
Iām having an issue where the battery just says 0 for my switch even though it definitely has battery. Is there a fix for this? Thanks!
Iām sorry. I canāt support this project anymore. If someone would like to take up development I will link their thread at the top of the first post.
So, theoretically, would it be pretty simple to make this capable of, say, 7 devices? I assume youād just go in the code and add a ādevice 6ā and ādevice 7ā? Iāve actually never done anything custom in smartthings, and Iām very new to it. (Iāve had lightify for a couple years now, but looking to upgrade and integrate things more fluidly.)
Also sorry for replying to such an old post.
