[OBSOLETE] LANnouncer with IFTTT (2016)

Is there a way to introduce a delay into a phrase in LANnouncer? I tried using a chime in the middle of a phrase, but the second half of the phrase just ran over the top of the chime.

Do you have your android device set to sleep wifi when not charging? If so, it won’t receive commands via wifi.

Thank you. It seems to have solved itself. Every once-in-a-while LANnouncer goes flaky, but not often enough to discourage me from relying on it.

I’ve added an app to keep WIFI connected and LANnouncer is working perfectly and stable now on my FireHD8… Kudos to you - I’ve bought you a Martini

I am trying to get LANnouncer setup for use with IFTTT. I have it working using IP address, but I can’t get the syntax correct for using it with GCM or WAN. I keep getting an error “bad request syntax”. I am trying the following curl command

curl “http://lannouncer.keybounce.com:1036/command?userName=eldsl403@gmail.com&deviceName=Fire&command=?SPEAK=Awaiting your command&@DONE@”

Could someone help me with the syntax for GCM or WAN?

Thanks,

Please help me troubleshoot this application. I think the problem may be with my network settings. I am a rank amateur at this stuff but can usually muddle through with a combination of google searches and trial-and-error… but not this time.

I have the device handler installed and the service is set up as a smart thing, but it is not functional. The main icon will light up when I press “siren” or “strobe,” but there is no sound at all. The “speak,” “notify,” and “tone” buttons do not seem to do anything, but the events do show up in the SmartThings log.

I am currently using an old galaxy tab s2 (Android 7.0), with the LANnouncer app installed from google play. I have set up a static ip for the tablet on my google wifi network and have verified that the audio settings are correct in the LANnouncer android app. Wifi is set to never sleep and I have made an exception for the app in the battery monitoring service.

So looking at the “troubleshooting” web page, I next checked the network settings and have been unable to ping the tablet lan through the established ip. The request times out , reported as unreachable with 100% packet loss. I do have a complex network with 37 devices currently online

This may not help you completely but jsut FYI tablets and phones may not respond to pings (that’s how they are setup). Also, you may have to reboot the router and the tablet at the same time to make sure the new static IP address is assigned and used, there’s a possibility that the old assigned IP address may be cached and the new one not being used. If you know how to check this on the tablet you should make sure it is using the static IP that you assigned.

I am certain that the IP address is correctly assigned, having verified it on the tablet, in the Google WiFi app, and with Fing on a separate device.

I now wonder if it has something to do with the Google WiFi mesh system. I have been happy with G wifi overall (fairly idiot proof and plug-and-play), but we don’t have access to alot of settings. There may be a firewall that we cannot bypass.

Has anyone been able to use LANnouncer on a Google WiFi LAN?

I am using Lannouncer on my Fire 7 tablet and using my iPhone to establish the program syntax that controls the Fire tablet announcements. I have the following URL on IFTTT through Webhooks:
http://lannouncer.keybounce.com:/1036/command?username= (insert your account id here without parens)&deviceName=(name of Android tablet without parens)&command=Alarm%3DChime

This creates the ding dong like in a store when you enter. The %3D replaces the = sign.

Hope it helps.

I am using Lannouncer on my wall mounted Fire 7 working with Smartthings and Konnected security system. I have Lannouncer create a chime when doors open, etc., but want to create a spoken announcement “Door Open”. To control Lannouncer, I use IFTTT with Webhooks on my iPhone to establish the chime command with the following string for the URL:

http://lannouncer.keybounce.com:/1036/command?username=(insert your account id here without parens)&deviceName=(name of Android tablet without parens)&command=Alarm%3DChime

To date, I have been unable to get the solution correct when I substitute “Alarm%3DChime” with “Speak%3DDoor%20Open”

Can someone provide the correct syntax for this to occur?

Thanks

I have a Galaxy Tab 2 with Android 4.2.2. I think that’s the highest version available for the Tab 2. I want to connect the tablet to speaker and have the ability of making announcements and playing sound files. But it seems like LANnouncer requires android 5 and above. Is there any previous versions I can install that will work with android 4.2.2?

No, sorry but there are no previous versions.

So there is no way to get LANnouncer on anything below android 5? What will happen if i download the APK anyway and try and install it?

It won’t work because LANnouncer requires certain OS functions that are built into Android 5.0 and better.

I was able to modify the LANnouncer DH and make it work with Tasker and a plugin (Tasker Network Event Server - TNES) to receive the message and “say” the announcement. Basically you need to set up the TNES plugin to trigger on messages coming from the LANnouncer DH and extract the portion of the text to be read out and pass that along to Tasker. There is a tasker “say” action that can then do Text-To-Speech to read out the message.

I tried to go to the keybounce page that gives instructions to install lan announcer to smartthings, but the link has been taking over by a casino add. Is there any other link that has these instructions published?

So apparently i needed to jump through hoops to get google play installed on my Amazon Fire HD 7th generation. I was successful at installing googleplay but althought i can find lannouncer on googleplay from a PC it does not show up when searching in google play on the Amazon device, what in the world???

Did you try the download from the web site that is linked in the instructions in the first post?

I have summarized install instructions here:

I’ve installed LANnnouncer on an old Nexus 7 tablet and got it to work just fine. However, I’d like to get the premium version to add custom chimes but i have no idea where in the world I can do that. Is there a paid version in the google play store? Is it named something else?
