@keltymd, does the auto clear vent option work?
Honestly I don’t know. Mine have not showed jammed in forever or if they did it did its job
Have you physically observed them working. I noticed one of mine last night, it was supposed to move, the logs shows it moved but in reality did nothing!
I hear mine move all the time
I hear mine too, but this one, in one of my kids’ bedrooms was dead in the water. Interesting though that unlike motion sensors - when they get stuck only report temperature - the vent commands are recorded but nothing happens to the vent. Anyway, I checked all mine and that was the only one that was stuck. Taking the batteries out and put them back in solved the problem…
You having any issues since the update where status does not update. My HVAC kicks in and the vents do not open unless I open and close the individual zones in the app or Update in the IDE
Ive had some devices need a kick start, but haven’t had any issues with the vents.
I have had a ton of apps that rules or apps dont run unless I open and close them. I have already opened all apps and ran updates in the IDE but keep having these issues pop up.
Are you running beta code or whats published for us minions?
My vents are arriving today and want to install them ASAP.
Nothing in beta, so same code as you all…
Cool. So They arrived and I have placed all 6 in their new"home".
2 in living room on main floor
2 in family room on second floor
1 in boys room
1 in girls room
Going through the config. Looking for recommendations.
My downstairs is where I plan to place the, for now. Should I name the zone they are “In” or the zone they “affect”? My upstairs gets hot so the 2 in the downstairs living room will be closing to control the temp upstairs. How do I set that up?
The final solution Im looking for is:
Downstairs is an ice box in the evenings when we try to cool the upstairs to a desired temp.
2 kids rooms and a family room upstairs are the biggest areas of concern and are typically 3-5 degrees warmer than downstairs.
My initial plan was to have the main floor close based on the upstairs temp, until that temp reached a desired temp, then open. Currently Im using the remote ecobee thermostats for all of my zones (4).
At this time there are several “dumb” vents closed on the main floor as we hardly ever use the rooms they’re in.
How can that be achieved? Thanks!
EDIT: I “Think” I have it figured out. See below post for concern/issue.
@Mike_Maxwell
So Ive got them installed but the vents wont change percentage open until I go into that zone and hit done.
Any thoughts?
Make sure your HVAC is actually running, or else vents won’t move…
Obviously. The downstairs vents were at 100% and the sensor they use was reading 67. As soon as I hit done, they closed to 15%.
Trying to figure this out…
Ok, the app is event driven, it uses no polling or scheduling.
The key events that need to be timely are the following:
Thermostat operating mode and set point changes, these enable/disable the zones, operating mode tells the zones to start listening to local temperature events.
Temperature sensor temp events, when received by the zone, these cause the local vo and set points to be evaluated, and changes made to the current vent opening if required.
The current vent openings are also evaluated in a zone when the zone is refreshed. So it sounds like your remote temp sensors are not reporting to st, or are slow on updating.
Should I not be using the ecobee remote thermos? I figured those were near real time for temp, and 30 min for motion?
Keenect doesn’t use motion, so I can’t speak to that, and I don’t know what the reporting interval on the temp sensors is.
I pointed out what the app needs to function properly, since I no longer have any ecobees I’m not in any position to do any testing or app evaluation using them.
I would have a look in your live event logs while the hvac is running to see how often temperature changes are being reported by the ecobee remote sensors…
I know it doesn’t use motion. The ecobee remote sensors have motion as well as temp.
I guess these questions are more geared towards anyone in this thread that has the ecobee and remote sensors.
Ill be heading to lowes to get a few things and may as well get more motion sensors, to use their temp sensor.
for the ecobee remote sensors it depends on what you have selected as a polling interval. I use a 1min interval.
Using pollster?
