I am an amature and currently at a loss…

I am trying to complete the addition of a “Centralite 3400 Keypad” to my Smartthings System.

I have installed the “Enhanced ZigBee Keypad Lock” and “User Lock Manager” into Smartthings.
I got the Smartthings to Recognize and Pair the 3400 Keypad.

I know its Paired since I can press the Tamper Switch on the back of the keypad, and Smartthings sees it as a Tamper Alarm. I can also, in Smartthings, send a Keypad Lock to the Keypad, and it turns the face of the Keypad Red indicating it’s lock.

However, I can’t seem to get the 3 Alarm Modes Buttons on the Keypad to do anything at all.

Am I missing something ?

There are many ways to use the keypad, a couple of things to note which can help plan on how you want to use the keypad (Note that the keypad doesn’t have any build in lock/motors):

  • The 3400 keypad accepts only 4 digit codes, you need to program these 4 digit codes using either the Lock User Management (LUM) app or SmartLocks (or through SHM Delay if you’re using that app). Without codes the keypad won’t really work in a meaningful way.
  • Once the code is programmed, you need enter the 4 digit code followed by one of the arming/disarming buttons on the keypad. This will trigger the keypad to either “lock” or “unlock”. If you have defined an action in LUM under the Keypad Lock/UnLock actions page then those actions will be triggered (run routines, change, modes, lock/unlock other locks, turn switches on/off etc). If you’re using a different app like Lock and Door Synchronizer then it would active other physical doors/locks.
  • If you want to synchronize the keypad with SHM (Smart Home Monitor on the Classic app) then just active the Direct control SHM option in the LUM app under the Lock/Unlock actions page and now you can arm/disarm SHM directly from the keypad using the programmed codes

Got it, Thanks !
It just works backwards than my old keypad.

Can you help me with another problem ?

When I select AWAY on the key pad, then exit the house, the alarm triggers immediately and my siren sounds.
How can I add a 20 delay to get out ?

And the opposite coming home in when in the AWAY mode, when I come in the alarm triggers immediately and my siren sounds.

How can I add a 20 delay to get in to chance the mode to HOME ?

Assuming you’re using SHM. It doesn’t support delays at this time. There are three ways to solve this:

  1. If you’re using the LUM SmartApp, in the lock actions you can configure a delay, so say you can set it to run the actions after 60 seconds giving your time to exit before SHM arms. However this only works for exit delays and for entry delays.
  2. If you only want to use SHM then check out SHM Delay 2.0, it’s a neat app which allows you to add some delays (it’ll require some reworking of your setup but is the best bet if you only want to use SHM for example the professional monitoring or dashboard)
  3. You can check the Intruder Alert with Actions SmartApp which is built for security monitoring. It adds features like entry and exit delays, additional notifications, actions (running routines controlling switches etc) but doesn’t have the dashboard like SHM yet.

Extreme NOOB here! Due to the pending Iris by Lowes shutdown, I’ve migrated all my Z-Wave & Zigbee devices over to Smartthings. All, except for my keypad (Iris 3405-l). Exactly what do I need to pair & use my keypad? Just your “Enhanced ZigBee Keypad Lock” device handler, or do I also need a smart app? If so, is one smart app preferred over others, in term of compatibility or usability?

Keypad is not directly supported by SmartThings. Requires custom DTH, and a smartapp. My smartapp, SHM Delay also provides for the exit and entry delays missing in ST Smart Home Monitor, Keypad support, maintaining user pins, and much more.

Hey Jeff, welcome to SmattThings from IRIS. In SmartThings, Device Handlers are used to connect devices with the hub while SmartApps are used to implement specific use cases using devices connected with SmartThings.

To connect your keypad with SmartThings you only need this device handler and you should be able to access and configure your keypad through the ST mobile app after pairing it.

Depending on how you want to use the keypad, you will need SmartApps. There are a couple of examples outlined by RBoy above which talk using the keypad to arm and disarm your security setup.

If you take a look at the first post it will give you more example of how you can use the keypad for different use cases like controlling garage doors, patio doors, acting as a second lock, a security keypad etc. It also outlines many of the popular and feature rich SmartApps which can make the most use of this device handler and the keypads.

Hope this helps

I have been using the DTH, LUM and SmartThings Smart Locks for a couple of weeks now and I keep having an issue with Smart Locks.

It will show (on my dashboard) “Smart Locks: 3 Locked, 1 unlocked”. But when I go into it, all 3 real locks are locked and my 1 XFinity Keypad is also locked. I can even unlock/lock it again but the Smart Locks always says its unlocked.

Is this a known issue? Its not a biggie, but its confusing to my family who doesn’t understand how all of this works.

@wheineman While this is for the Z-Wave DTH from @rboy, the same thing applies to the Zigbee DTH as well. Make this change (using Zigbee instead of Z-Wave) and you should be good.

You can also find the instructions in the release notes:

How do I install this if I buy it … take in mind I have NO programming experience
Thanks, Mark

Hi there, you don’t need any programming experience to install this device handler. There are a few step by step instructions that you need to follow which can be found here:

http://www.rboyapps.com/install.htm

Select the option to install the Device Handler and then follow the instructions in the first post of this topic to pair your keypad.

Once paired you it will allow SmartThings to access/control your keypad. Now you can use any of compatible SmartApps to program and create Automations for your keypad. Links to some of the most popular apps are also provided in the first post.

RBoy/Maddie - Thanks for the instructions they helped.
Regarding the following picture:
a) What does the code entry on or off mean?
b) ‘Locked’ refers to the status of the door lock?
c) my Keypad picture in the Smartthings classic app does not show tamper or panic, why?
I look forward to you response.

If only it was weatherproof!!! Argh!

Does anyone know if Lowes sent a kill code through or something. Both of my (previously working and connected to SmartThings) Iris Keypad v2 stopped working at the same time. I updated the device handler … nothing. I removed the devices and now I can’t even get the device to flash the green light when I attempt to pair again … Thoughts?

(Jeff Kerner) #124

Probably a stupid question, but have you checked your batteries? All of my door/window sensors showed 70% and were working fine when I unpaired them from Iris. I had all kinds of squirrelly operations when I paired them with Smartthings! Doors that were closed, showed as open. When I opened the door, it showed closed! Some showed as open all the time, regardless of the actual door state, & vice-versa. Batteries now all showed about 45%! Replaced them all with fresh batteries, unpaired/repaired, and they’re all working fine now!

(Jason Partridge) #125

Hello, Is it possible to add a countdown beep when arming and disarming using the Rboy device handler with the Iris v2 keypad? If not, can anyone recommend how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

(Frak) #126

@rajpurkar
a) Code Entry on/off enables/disables code entry on the keypad. When it is off, the keypad won’t recognize any input.
b) Locked refers to the logical state of the keypad. You can use that to trigger lock state of actual physical locks with the Lock User Management SmartApp.
c) Tamper only shows up if the unit is opened up. Once you close it (which presses a button down) the Tamper icons goes away. The Panic button is a feature of certain keypads only (Iris v3)
