The device is ignoring all commands being sent to it and I’m pretty sure I know why, but I need to see the raw description to verify. If you don’t see it, open the device details in the IDE and post screenshots of everything displayed on that page.

Is this the info you’re looking for ?

No, the info I need is labeled “raw description”…

If you don’t see that section then post screenshots of that entire page.

Finally found it, but that field is empty. Damn it.

It looks like you posted the details of a tamper event so you’re still not looking in the right place.

It’s on the main device details screen near all the other stuff you posted on the other topic.

It’s below the “Data” section and above the “Current States” section.

Well i don’t have that. Nothing there. See images

This is for the button

What steps are you performing to add/remove the device and where are you doing them from? (New mobile app, classic mobile app, or IDE?)

Add/remove device is done on the IDE, i go to the devices and delete them from there.
the configuration I’ve tried from both the classic and new app.

It’s not possible to join/exclude z-wave devices from the IDE so all you’re doing is creating a virtual device which explains why you’re running into so many problems…

Since you haven’t actually joined the device, remove it through the IDE and then go to the “Things” tab in the Classic Mobile app.

Tap “add a thing” and when it displays “looking for devices” push the physical button on the back of the device. Within a minute the mobile app should show that it found the “Aeotec Doorbell 6”.

Once the device is found you can open it from the “Things” screen, go into the device’s settings, and it should save all the changes you make.

If you previously factory reset the device then the button will no longer be paired with it so you’ll need to tap the “Pair” tile and then push the physical doorbell button 3x quickly. If the pairing is successful the device will play a sound and it should create a new device in SmartThings for the button.

Don’t do this now, but if at some point you want to remove the device then you need to open its settings in the mobile app, click the “Remove” button, and push the physical button on the device 6x really fast.

Thank you Kevin.

Here is the thing, when i try to add a thing on the classic i does not find anything, when i try to add it manually there are no options for the Aeotec for the doorbell, and for the Alarm i have only the option for Aeotec Siren (Gen5).

Like I said before, it’s not possible to manually create a device using the IDE. All that does is create a fake device that isn’t attached to anything so that’s never going to work for a real device.

If the device wasn’t excluded properly that would explain why SmartThings is unable to find it so hold the action button for at least 20 seconds to factory reset it.

Once you’ve reset the device, use the classic mobile app to add it. Make sure you push the physical button when it says looking for devices. You should probably also be near the hub while adding it.

Kevin,

I wasn’t trying to add the device in IDE this time, tried on the classic app only…

Will try the other steps you’ve mentioned and report back.

This part of your response made it sound like you still thought it was possible to “manually” create the device…

By manually i mean, the classic app it searches for new devices and i does not find them, then i will try to add them manually. sorry i wasn’t clear enough.

Did you factory reset the device? If so, what was the LED doing when the reset finished?

Kevin inhad to factory reset the alarm in order to be recognized. Its seems that everything is fine now.
You’re the man!

One quick question, actually two. The status of the doorbell shows off, unless there is something pressed- is it suppose to show “OFF” ? I it possible to chime when ST devices such as multiple purpose and motion sensors are triggered ? I’m trying to find the info on how to do that, but unable to locate it.

Thanks again for all the assistance you provided.

The doorbell button device reports “on” when the doorbell button is pushed which allows you to use it as a switch trigger in almost any SmartApp.

It also generates the button pushed event when the button is pushed, but not as many SmartApps support button triggers.

If I remember correctly, the doorbell device only reports “on” when it’s performing the action specified in the setting.

Long story short, if the device isn’t doing anything then it’s “off” so what you’re seeing is the expected behavior…

Yes, but I think you have to set that up with the Classic Mobile app.

You can play custom sounds based on events using the SmartApp Speaker Companion or a custom monitor in Smart Home Monitor.

In Smart Home Monitor, after selecting the trigger event you should use the Audio Notification option, select the device, select the “custom” option from the list of sounds, and enter the sound # you want to play.

The process should be similar in Speaker Companion, but it’s been a while since I’ve used that app.
