Is it normal that my random namespace for custom capabilities has suddenly changed from panelorange55982 to autumncenter01175 in newly created capabilities?
Happened to me as well. Had to use --namespace=<value> the last time when I created a custom capability.
Thatโs a new trick ![]()
Reminds me that I should update the SmartThings CLI every now and thenโฆ
Interesting. All my namespaces appear unchanged on my accounts, though I havenโt tried to do anything creative lately.
Do you see both if you list your namespaces (/capabilities/namespaces in the API, and quite likely visible in the CLI too)?
Have you looked at your โorganizationsโ? The random namespace is usually the name of your โdefault user organizationโ. Has an extra organization appeared?
I donโt actually use my โrandomโ namespace for capabilities or preferences, I created a new organization with my choice of name instead. But thatโs besides the point.
Only shows one with my random namespace indeed.
Note I removed the offending capability earlier and created a new one with the --namespace so maybe that autumn thing went with it.
Hi @mocelet
If this happens again, please make sure to note the timestamp of when you created it, that will help us investigate further on our side.
Also happened to me. I suddenly have two namespaces in my org:

spikysystem25045 is my standard namespace, the other suddenly appeared.
Could you please share the following so we can investigate further?
- The timestamp of when the issue occurred (including date, time, and time zone)
- Confirm the email account registered in the forum is the same one you use for SmartThings. If not, please share it with me over DM.
- Enable support access to your account:
- Go to the SmartThings Web (my.smartthings.com)
- Log in to your Samsung Account
- Select Menu (โฎ) and choose Settings
- Toggle on Account Data Access
- Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select โUntil turned offโ, once the team finishes, weโll let you know so you can disable it again.
More info about this access here: https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/36170233944852-Enabling-Account-Data-Access-for-Support
4. Run the following command and share the output so we can get your organization ID:
smartthings organizations
Let us know once you have this information, thanks!
