QR code isn't for adding devices

I have old Samsung SmartThings Motion Detectors & Door and Window Detectors but am not able to add them. When I scan the QR code, I get the following message -
QR coded isn’t for adding devices
This device isn’t supported in your Samsung account’s country or Region.
(Add Manually or cancel)
When I select Manually, select motion sensor, it comes up with 2 options, but not what I have. It tried both without success. It doesn’t give a Door and Window Detector option. I also tried scanning, but doesn’t find them.

If it helps, by the QR code, there is an install code:
1397-7931-5800-6072 (Motion)
8230-6340-8944-3211 (Door/Window)

Under cover, states Intertek 3061503 Intrucion Detection Unit

Any suggestions?

Have you factory reset the devices? Have you tried doing a “Scan Nearby”? What hub do you have?

Login to https://account.Samsung.com and check the Country assigned to your account matches the Country you live in.

Thank you. Everything is good there. I have other devices connected up, but can’t get these connected.

I have tried scan nearby. I have pulled batteries on 6 devices. Will look tonight for what hub using.

Intertek do certification and the like. That’s making me wonder if you’ve ended up with ADT sensors from the old ADT / SmartThings joint venture. I believe that wouldn’t be good.

(Sorry, pressed the wrong ‘reply’ button there)

I was wondering that too as I was doing a little research.

Here is a link to an ADT Smartthings door and window sensor on eBay. As I understand it doesn’t use Zigbee, it uses something proprietary to ADT. Same with the motion sensor. They look very different to the Samsung SmartThings sensors.

yes, these are ADT/SmartThings. I was able to get other devices (also ADT/SmartThings) up and running without issue. While Samsung no longer supports these devices, I was hoping there was a way to connect them, especially since I currently have 6 devices up and running.

I don’t really know the details, but I think the gist of it is that certain sensors (motion and door/window definitely, and smoke is also suggested) were exclusively for use with the ADT/SmartThings security system. How ‘proprietary’ they really are is not clear. They may have been pretty standard pieces of kit for other manufacturers, just not for ADT it seems, and certainly not for SmartThings. Other sensors that were available, such as the water leak sensors, used Zigbee and they should still be supported by the current SmartThings hubs to some degree.

Thank you!!! The devices working are water leak sensors and an outlet plug. I did buy all of these years ago off-the-shelf (Best Buy). Never installed at old house, but just built new house and wanted to utilize these instead of buying new. Guess I will need to buy new. Will NOT get any more Samsung or SmartThings as they have showed they will not be backward compatible. Think about it, items bought now, will not work 10 years from now. There are plenty of other ones out there!

They are ahead of you on that… they no longer manufacture or sell sensors.

I am the opposite… I don’t even plan on having the same devices 10 years from now.
