Problem Upgrading from Smartthings Classic

I have one of the older smartthings hubs and amongst other things use Visonic MCT-340 E door sensors. I can’t recall why but I have a custom device handler for the door sensors. When I try the new app the door sensors appear but don’t change state. I see 2 options and wonder if the community has additional options:

  1. remove the device handler and readd the door sensors. are these sensors supported natively now?
  2. wait for samsung to support the custom handler in the new app.

Try using the SmartSense Open/Closed Sensor device handler

Thanks for the reply, and apologiesif I’m being thick, can you confirm the steps to switch to smartsense? I assume I

  1. remove the things using the custom device handler
  2. delete custom device handler
  3. reset the things
  4. pair the things

Is smartsense automatically used when the things re-pair?
Before I do all of that, is there any chance samsung will make the new app work with the old handler?

No need to remove any devices if they are paired.

  • Login to IDE at https://account.smartthings.com
  • go to My Devices and click on the name of the device
  • click Edit at the bottom of the screen
  • in the Type field, scroll through the pull-down menu and select SmartSense Open/Closed Sensor
  • click update at the bottom of the screen
  • repeat for each sensor

You are done!

Who knows! There is also the possibility you can get it partially working in the STSC app.
