I have one of the older smartthings hubs and amongst other things use Visonic MCT-340 E door sensors. I can’t recall why but I have a custom device handler for the door sensors. When I try the new app the door sensors appear but don’t change state. I see 2 options and wonder if the community has additional options:
remove the device handler and readd the door sensors. are these sensors supported natively now?
wait for samsung to support the custom handler in the new app.
Try using the SmartSense Open/Closed Sensor device handler
Thanks for the reply, and apologiesif I’m being thick, can you confirm the steps to switch to smartsense? I assume I
remove the things using the custom device handler
delete custom device handler
reset the things
pair the things
Is smartsense automatically used when the things re-pair?
Before I do all of that, is there any chance samsung will make the new app work with the old handler?
No need to remove any devices if they are paired.
Login to IDE at
go to My Devices and click on the name of the device
click Edit at the bottom of the screen
in the Type field, scroll through the pull-down menu and select SmartSense Open/Closed Sensor
click update at the bottom of the screen
repeat for each sensor
You are done!
Who knows! There is also the possibility you can get it partially working in the STSC app.
I was encouraged by other forum community members to start a topic to discuss which custom device handlers a.k.a. DTH’s will be supported in the new app. (If any )
For those of you that are using the new app, can you confirm any custom device handlers that are working?
Below are the ones that I use and am seeking info on… Thanks in advance…
Also, if custom DTH’s are not going to work, Will those devices show up in the new app? Or do I have to exclude them and then add them again using their default device handler?
