Samsung TV as a Thing
Samsung TV as a Thing, like other smart devices, can be connected to your Hub and included in SmartThings Classic Routines and SmartThings Automations. You can also adjust select TV controls from the mobile app.
Under Product information, look for the 14-character Model Code. If the 5th and 6th characters in the code are âKUâ or âKSâ followed by the number â6â or above, then your Samsung TV is compatible and can be connected to your SmartThings Hub as a Thing!

Create your very own SmartThings ecosystem:
Experience a new world of possibilities as Samsung gives you the ability to create your very own SmartThings ecosystem. With a wide variety of sensors and inputs that work harmoniously with your TV you can control everything from lighting to heating
Just to note both apps connect and smartthings original gave full control and alexa integration in the past. Both apps have had the functionality removed

Tv integration working again
Thatâs been working for ages in the new UI. But it doesnât have the same functionality, and you canât turn it ON from standby.
Which, by your own definition means itâs still NOT working.
Yes, so your post doesnât reveal any new functionality that was we already knew was there but ISNT what we had before the TV firmeware was updated to change the communication protocols.
I can turn my TV on and off from the new smartthings connect app without any issue. It is a ku7500.
Yes, but not in the Classic which means no integration with anything else in SmartThings or Action Tiles.
Just tried to re-add my KU6100 in classic and new apps and it doesnât even discover it. TV firmware is 1220.
I have the same problem. My firmware version is
1230. Did you manage to solve the problem with the SmartThings App?
Nope still ruined.
Iâve given up with the TV, and wonât buy another Samsung one again.
My 55" KU6100 used to work perfectly with the old ST app. I could turn on, off, volume etc.
Then Samsung rolled out a firmware update for the TV that meant it only worked with the NEW app, and reduced the functionality (this was a change to the authentication protocol).
Now iâve just tried again, and noticed that they have removed my model number from the list of supported devices, and the new ST app doesnât even detect it. So itâs gone from bad, to worse. Well done Samsung!
@SmartThings - please sort this out.
Thereâs no accountability. No one cares. Itâs not the smartthings team that did this. Itâs Samsung. And the effect on their bottom line because a few TVs no longer work with smartthings is so negligible, that nothing will be done about it. Itâs been almost a year and itâs still not corrected so, at this point, itâs not going to be. I will never buy another samsung electronic. Again, samsung wonât care or bother to fix. Iâll get a harmony hub eventually.
Samsungâs reluctance to make this good is certainly frustrating but Harmony is no substitute for native SmartThings integration. When it was working, I was able to display notifications on my tv for when someone was at the front door, a room sensor detected activity etc. It was really useful.
If you check Walmart, theyâre $75, but the price often drops to $55-$60.
Eh? Did you get the right thread?
Just ordered one with remote on Ebay for $50.
Yes, I was replying to mmcglynn264.

Just joined the forums after a long troubleshooting session. The issue is definitely firmware related. This is what Iâve noticed with my UN55KS8000 in Canada:
Iâm guessing because SmartThings is seeing the TV as a (55) Series 8, it goes to Samsung Account and doesnât find the TV. Smart Things then drops out as âCannot register TVâ
Getting Samsung to issue a firmware update to fix this is highly unlikely. Maybe the Smartthings developers can find a workaround and reduce the restrictions on matching devices so that our KS800âs can register?
Right now I cannot use SmartThings with my TV anymore. All this happened either with the Firmware update a while back over the past year or so and really (used to work sometimes) broke when SmartThings recently updated. SmartView App works fine.
When things were Smart Connect (before SmartThings), it used to work just fine. I could watch TV on phone, and vice versa.
