Phillips hue v2 question

I have searched and found way to many post on hue stuff with a 100 different answers anyway I lucked up and got a hue v2 hub and 3 bulbs really cheap so…few questions

Do i connect the bulbs to the hue bridge then connect the bridge to ST hub?
did hue push out a firmware that doesnt allow certain brands to be connected?
can I use my ST smart apps and triggers if I connect the bulbs to hue?
should I just skip the hue bridge all together?

last but not least if question 1 is true how do I connect the hue bridge to ST?

Yes.

Yes, but then they changed it back again with a later firmware update. So as long as you have the newest firmware you can add third-party brands.

can I use my ST smart apps and triggers if I connect the bulbs to hue?

Yes. And you will still be able to connect the Hue bridge independently to other third-party devices/services.

should I just skip the hue bridge all together?

No.

last but not least if question 1 is true how do I connect the hue bridge to ST?
