I read that some people had painted the plastic cases of these sensors to match the background where they are mounted. Do you have to be careful about paint selection to avoid decreased signal strength?
When I put them on the front door they immediately stuck out like a sore thumb. I took a picture of the wood grain of the door and taped he printout over the sensors so they would blend in more. Paint shouldn’t hurt anything because it’s a magnetic contact. I’ve never tried it. I would be worried about the kind of paint you are using and how it adheres and looks on the plastic.
Thanks for the suggestions. I was more concerned with the part of the enclosure that encompassed the electronics that had to communicate with the hub. Your ideas got me interested in home automation in the first place.
