Occupancy sensor and Alexa: “when I get up from the couch, remind me to…”?

Title says what I’m seeking to do. There are a lot of times where I don’t want to be reminded to do something ten minutes now… but DO want to be reminded when my cats leave my lap, and I get up. So questions:

  1. What occupancy sensor would know it’s me getting up out of a chair, instead of merely one of my cats getting up?
  2. How would I craft a routine to accomplish this? I think it would have been doable in WebCore, but it’s been awhile since I created any routines that could use Alexa voice to set a trigger that way. And I don’t even know if it could be changed from time based to event based.

So question one is the first thing. If no occupancy sensor can do it, the idea is moot.

One of the smart bed occupancy sensors ought to be able to do it if you want something off the shelf. Many of those have a weight range, so they will ignore the cats.

Alternatively, you should be able to make one yourself with a simple pressure sensor, but that’s going to be quite a bit more work and I honestly don’t know the best way to do it in the current architecture. The old “smart chair“ topics should give you some pointers.

I have two couches and a chair in the living room. When I said “the couch” I had more in mind than one seat lol.

So I’m looking more for a whole-room solution than three separate ‘bed’ sensors.
