[OBSOLETE] Zooz Edge Driver Channel

Suddenly my Zooz Zen21 switches going offline one by one.

I get intermittent network errors with my ZEN25, typically when I try to execute one command less than 30 seconds after another. SmartThings does have an outstanding “service disruption in North America” which perhaps explains this.

But regarding the ZEN25 and other multi-control devices: Do you plan to convert to the ZWAVE / EDGE_CHILD model? This has been stable with my Qubino Flush 2 dual relays for a couple of weeks. The EDGE_CHILD model eliminates the need for shadow virtual devices and synchronizing routines. Just wondering… Thanks.

I’m not so sure, I had everything set to the default values so it was 300 for wattage, energy and voltage frequency and like clockwork my ZEN25 would lose its’ connection in some time under 24 hours. The fix was unplugging it from the wall and plugging it back in and it would immediately come back online. If the default value of 300 is not acceptable, why not change it to something that is? If this was an issue on the hub side processing the reports, shouldn’t I have had to tinker with something on the hub to restore the connection?

Mine also becomes unresponsive via the physical button when this happens. It is like the device itself is crashing. Never happened before on the DTH, same v2.0 firmware. Device has been factory reset multiple times. Contacting Zooz is useless, they will offer a coupon for another device and go about their day.

The default value of 300 is acceptable, i just accidentally had the default value set to 30 in the original version of the profile, which is also an acceptable value, but the additional reports can cause z-wave messages to get dropped when multiple devices are communicating at the same time.

It’s not possible for a driver to cause a hardware malfunction…

So the two of us have the same hardware failure that has just popped up now that Edge drivers are coming into play? This should be pretty easy to duplicate. If anything, I’d believe this is a firmware issue in v2.0. I really doubt my device is suddenly physically failing. When I’m done using this thing for my christmas tree I’ll see if I can play around with the settings and figure out if there is a certain point at which it fails.

If anyone else has a ZEN25 available with firmware v2.0, can you try adding the device to SmartThings using the new driver, keep all default settings intact and see if it can remain online for >24 hours with no intervention? I’m pretty sure mine failed in significantly less time than that. If it matters, I am using only the ‘left’ outlet and have a small load on it, about 11 watts if the measurement provided is accurate. There is nothing plugged in to the right outlet, or the USB port.

I was having serious connectivity and battery issue with my ZSE42 Leak Sensor. Even testing the sensor in water didn’t return an alert. Eventually, I excluded it, upgraded the firmware on Hubitat, and reincluded it using a different method than the one laid out in the Zooz instructions and it has been working fine since. Turns out I didn’t actually need to replace the battery as it was just reporting the wrong figures.

My ZEN25 has been online for several weeks with no intervention… but I did change reporting frequencies to 3600, Always Off after power fail, and LED Indicator Mode to “Always off”.

Firmware updated to 2.0.

Just checking in on the drivers for Zen24 and Zen27. I have over 20 of these, and starting to get concerned about losing all of the work I’ve put into all of this. Any guidance appreciated.

Question for ZSE29 users.
Does the V2 report illumination readings or is it only for the internal motion sensor?
I’m looking for reliable illumination sensor, outdoor motion would be additional bonus.

Thanks

As are we all.

I’m in the same boat. Got 28 Z-wave devices, roughly 20 are Zooz ZEN27 or ZEN26. The rest are Leviton with one GE/Jasco Z-wave switch. While I’ve had about half of my ZigBee devices auto-migrated, none of my Z-wave devices have been.

I’m hanging on for auto-migration. I expect (hope?) that my devices, all on stock DTHs, will be changed over to a built-in Edge driver. Worst case they’ll end up as unrecognized “things” and I’ll have to pull in some Zooz or community driver channel. In theory changing from one Edge driver to another is non-disruptive.

We’ll see. December is ticking away.

I am attempting to “sync with switch” with new “Smart lighting” and a Zen30. None of my Zen30s appear in Smart lighting as a device to control, nor a switch to sync with. My use case is to have the physical switch control dimming for several lights in a room (associations are unfortunately not viable). SmartThings support is pointing towards the Zooz driver.
Zen30 is selectable in scenes/routines, and the sub-components (dimmer/relay) can be subsequently selected. This is fine for simple on/off, but not for dimming.

After poking around in Smart lighting, I am able to see the main device (dimmer) and relay as conditions for device status under “button.” Other devices appear under both “button” and “switch.” Is the Zen30 not being recognized as a switch and therefore not being seen by Smart lighting?

I switched to a community made driver and got the settings.
The settings on your driver for the 4-in-1 says “(minutes)” for the motion clear time instead of seconds, at least on the two I have that work right with your driver.

Just updated one of my Zen20s to edge. Really really need the channels broken out as child devices that we can name them what is plugged into them as well as access to them via Voice (Google Home and Alexa)

I have a ZSE40 that was working great with this driver until last Friday. It decided to not reset the motion. I have it set to 15s. I switched drivers and back again, changed batteries. Now, it resets motion but only after several minutes. Sometimes 9, sometimes 12, doesn’t seem to have a rhythm or reason for the reset length of time.
Anyone else seeing anything like this?

The default profile is for the 16.9 firmware and that’s the only profile that’s labeled “minutes”, but I just double checked the specs and it looks like it’s supposed to be seconds for that version too. The range is also supposed to be 15-60 so if you attempt to set it to a value below 15 the device will ignore it, but that won’t actually cause any problems.

While looking into that I noticed a comment in the Change Log stating that the firmware jumps from version 32.32 back down to 1.15 which means if you have the latest 700 series model and it’s showing firmware 1.15 then that explains why you’re seeing it labeled as Minutes.

That shouldn’t prevent you from using that setting as long as it’s not set to a value below 15, but I’ll fix it at some point.

What do you mean by “new Smart lighting”?

That sounds like a caching issue so try restarting your phone.

I think Zooz plans on adding the ability to optionally create separate child devices once the ability to do that is officially supported by ST.

Yes the version 2 reports motion and illuminance.

Those devices are officially supported by ST so they’ll automatically get assigned functional built-in drivers and you won’t lose any of the settings you changed while using the custom Groovy DTH.
