It looks like it’s successfully taking pictures… Nothing is showing in the small picture tile in the SmartThings app?

On recently tab I see that the picture shown was the one taken from photo burst because of the name on the bottom.

Photo burst and smart security camera both use the same ā€˜take’ function. If one works they all work.

Thanks. Previously i mention that dcs5020L does not move to preset number when it triggered. Is it only move to preset when Take picture is selected only and not record video.

The DCS-5020L doesn’t support video recording so it will only work with still pictures.

Thanks for help for us UK’ers who don’t have github integration.

Just to clarify for me, I have 930 and 932 camera, so once added I won’t see live pictures in ST app is that correct?

So all I can do in ST is have ST trigger any or all cameras to take a picture, then where do I see the picture just my normal email? If so is the only real function of this integration for me and my cameras, the ability to have the cameras trigger when say detect motion etc?

Will I have to set all my cameras with a fixed IP also so as they can be setup in your smartapp?

Thanks again

The camera will both be able to show live video and take still pictures. The motion detection allows the camera to email or upload pictures or video based on your camera advanced settings. You can also already the night vision (if the camera supports it)

Assigning a static IP helps, you may also need to set up port forwarding in order to view the video stream outside of your local network.

Alright I’m having a heck of time getting this to work.
i have a DCS-933L camera and i completed the set up and did all that it was given a static IP address of 192.168.1.11
I went into my router and forwarded port 80 and 554 for 192.168.1.11. Restarted the router and when i go to my web browser if i type in ether 192.168.1.11 or my external IP address i looked up from whatsmyip it’ll pop up the log in screen i put in my credentials and boom the site loads everything is good i can see live cam and everything.
so i can go into the app on ym smarttthings on my iPhone and match he credentials to a T with camera having the internal ip and port 80 and the video having external ip and port 554. Go to my things tab and open the camera and click the play button sometimes i get a error saying something like unable to retrieve video feed, sometimes i get a error saying unable to locate camera and a couple times it worked.

no idea what to do from here

Because your Camera doesn’t support rtsp, you’ll want to use the forwarded port 80 for video.

Ok thanks again.

I’m having a problem then. Set everything up like instructions, but in ST, your smartapp, camera just says can’t connect.

I can see it in the normal Dlink page, live video, email works on motion detect etc. Also the iOS DLink app

It says in your instructions the following
For Cameras that only support video (no audio) use the HTTP IP/Port
Default HTTP port is 80
For Cameras that support both video and audio use the RTSP IP/Port
Default RTSP port is 554

As mine is video and audio, I have to still put something in the http/ip do I put 80, you can’t leave blank, is this correct?

Is the camera IP and video port IP the same IP that the camera is? I don’t see how without assigning an IP that this would work on DHCP? I’m not a network person sorry if this sounds daft!

Anything I can check please, it supports video and sound, model is a UK 932L. I’m still all on my own network at moment, haven’t tried 4G yet to.

Thanks

i switched the ports to 80 like you said and when I’m connected to my local WIFI connection it works great even using the external IP on the Video portion but once i disconnect from WIFI to use my ATT LTE network it’ll try and connect and then says camera can’t be found.

You need to use your external IP if you want to access it outside of your local network. If you use the external IP, be sure to port forward port 80 for the camera.

i think I’ve got it working finally.
i was wondering is there anyway to set it up so like when the front door is opened it sends you photos or a video clip with out using the motion detection in the camera natively. i don’t want to use the native motion detection because then would be getting videos emailed all the time

Your camera doesn’t technically support video and audio, only video. These instructions are for the Video IP and Video Port only. In the case of your camera you will need to use your external IP and port forward your port 80 for the camera in order to get video to work outside of your local network. If you still can’t get it to work, post a screenshot with your settings page (cover any external IPs).

Try out my ā€˜Smart Security Camera’ SmartApp, listed under ā€˜Compatible SmartApps’ in the first post. It cannot e-mail you anything but it will save the still clips to the smartthings cloud and send you a push notification so you can view them in the SmartThings app. Only cameras that have an SD card support video recording (check the feature list in the main post).

Sorry I’m bemused by all these IP and port forward etc. I haven’t port forward anything, am I supposed to?

When I’m saying my camera IP I mean in my Apple extreme router I’ve made the camera be a static IP rather than DHCP. here’s a screenshot for my 932L camera.

Thanks

Your Camera’s port should be ā€˜80’ (the default HTTP port for the camera), your Video IP needs to be your external IP address in order to view the video outside of your local network. You can find this IP by googling ā€˜What’s my IP’. Your Video Port should be ā€˜80’ as well but you’ll need to set up port forwarding (google how to do it with your router, there should be instructions).

Hi, I’m based in the UK and the Github integration option isn’t available here as I understand it (Though happy to be corrected!). I have the DCS-932L and keen to integrate if I can.

Can you help me out as to the code I should be pasting in?
